Ken Clare fonds

Fonds contains material collected by Ken Clare relating to his interest in Nova Scotia Unions. Material includes photographs of the Halifax Lab Tech Strike in 1975; material relating to the Dalhousie Cleaners strike in the winter of 1978-1979; material from the Nova Scotia Labour Research and Support Centre; and material relating to the attempts to organize the workers at the Michelin plant at Granton by the United Rubber workers.

Leather community materials

Series contains materials collected by Al Stewart as part of his involvement with the Halifax-based TightRope leather brotherhood, which was established in the early 1990s, incorporated in 1997, and disbanded in 2007. Series also contains materials related to the Mr. Atlantic Canada Leather [MACLeather] organization, which operated between 1999-2010, and the leather community more broadly. Materials include TightRope administrative and financial records, correspondence, and promotional materials; event cards, flyers, posters, programs, and certificates of participation for TightRope events, MACLeather contests, and leather events across Canada and the United States; photographs of TightRope meet-ups, MACLeather contests, and other leather community events; web print-outs; issues of the Phalia newsletter published by Spearhead leather and denim club in Toronto; erotic gear catalogues; and one copy of the 2002 Men of Pumpjack calendar.

Lectures 1966-67

File consists of records related to the scheduling of guest lectures in connection with the Dalhousie Art Gallery for the 1966-1967 academic period.

Records consist mainly of correspondence of Evelyn Holmes (Acting Curator, Dalhousie Art Gallery) regarding organizing, planning, and presenting guest lectures. Additional records consist of a Dalhousie newsletter regarding a lecture presented by Stuart Allen Smith (Director, Beaverbrook Art Gallery), as well as Smith's biography and lecture summaries, lecturer itineraries, newspaper clippings, and publicity materials related to Ladislas Segy (Director, Segy Gallery, NY).

Maritime Science Fiction Festival 1997 program books and other material

File contains two copies of a program book from the 1997 Maritime Science Fiction Festival and one copy of the event schedule.

The file also contains a copy of a registration form for the Official International Dave Prowse Fan Club. A feature on Dave Prowse can be found on pages 10 and 11 of the the program book.

The file also contains a pamphlet on the art of puppetry and television production with Terry Angus. Terry Angus presented at the festival and a biography can be found on page 20 of the program book.

The file also contains a newsletter for the 1997 Maritime Science Fiction Festival, dated Autumn 1996.

This was a union support group located mainly in Halifax, which included several students, faculty and alumni of Dalhousie.

Fonds contains photographs of Melville Cumming, as well as addresses, research articles/manuscripts, and letters related to agriculture in Nova Scotia written by Melville Cumming. Other material consists of records that were created while Dr. Cumming served as the first principal at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College from 1905-27. He was also an instructor animal husbandry, agronomy, bacteriology and public speaking, and also served as the Secretary of Agriculture for the province from 1907-25. Includes records from 1900-1970 comprised of photographs, certificates, articles, and speeches from the passing of Dr. Cumming.

File contains notes and manuscripts written by Alexander Murchison and Norris Turner between 1972–1975 reviewing child guidance clinics and group homes in Nova Scotia. File also contains the June 1973 issue of the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers Newsletter, with articles by Norris Turner , Patricia Hardy, Ernie Rafuse, F.M. Fraser, Martin M. Dolan, Linda Isitt, and Barrie R. MacFarlane.

Nova Scotia Agricultural College development of a 'Training Program in Sustainable Agriculture' at the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (Columbia) project records

Subseries contains records that were created and used in the partnership project with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) and the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (Columbia) in the development of a 'Training Program in Sustainable Agriculture' at UFPS for both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program ran between 1997 and 2002. The Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (UFPS) was asked to play a key role in “El Salto Social”, the social leap forward, in the Santander region of Colombia. New curricula was to be introduced at UFPS, faculty being upgraded and new extension and outreach programs being established with the assistance of NSAC through this project. Other project partners were the Universidad de la Republica Uruguay (URU) of Uruguay and Saint Mary’s University (SMU). This was an Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) University Program for Cooperation in Development (UPCD) Tier 2 project led by NSAC. NSAC Personnel involved were Norman Goodyear, Bonnie Waddell, Sam Asiedu, and Leanne French.
