GayLine reference materials

Series contains reference materials used by volunteers of the GayLine. Series is divided into two subseries.
The first sub-series contains reference and educational materials used by GayLine volunteers covering issues such as homosexuality and coming out, sexual heath and AIDS prevention, alcoholism and substance abuse, abuse in LGBT relationships, parenting, discrimination, legal rights, and women's issues. Materials include pamphlets, flyers, legal briefs and resources, newsletters, essays, and bibliographies.
The second subseries contains reference materials relating to the operations of other helplines, as well as information about LGBT businesses and services, community groups, and events in Halifax, across Canada, and in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Oceania. Materials include advertisements and press releases, pamphlets, newsletters, flyers, information sheets, and directories.

Ronald St. John Macdonald’s correspondence

Series comprises correspondence regarding Macdonald's professional and academic involvement with institutions including Osgoode Hall, University of Western Ontario, University of Toronto, Dalhousie University, the European Court of Human Rights, the Hague, Peking University, World Academy of Arts and Science, Canadian Council of International Law, United Nations, Institute of International Law, African Society of International Law, British Institute of International Law, Canadian Institute of International Law, International Law Association, and others. Series also contains correspondence between Ronald St. John Macdonald and individuals including Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau, Paul E. Martin, Jean Chrétien, Elisabeth Mann Borgese, Wang Tieya, A. Donat Pharand, and others.

Photographs and audio visual materials of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College from 1885 to 2015

Series contains graphic materials of the students, staff, and faculty of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. There are also photographs of the campus landscape and buildings and also the School of Agriculture or the College of Agriculture as it was originally known. Subseries' include aerial views, animals, buildings, campus events, students, staff, faculty and principals of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College between 1885-2015, as materials may be associated with the Provincial farm or School of Agriculture (pre-1905).

AIDS-related health and legal advocacy

Series contains materials produced or collected as part of Larry Baxter's involvement with community HIV/AIDS organizations in Nova Scotia, including AIDS Nova Scotia [formerly MACAIDS], the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition [NSPWAC], and the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS]. Materials in this series document health and legal advocacy efforts for persons with HIV/AIDS, including research, lobbying, and community events.

Series consists of Judge Peter O'Hearn's records regarding his professional activities and studies in the area of family law, including the Newfoundland Family Law Study, the Child Welfare Act, the Adoption Act, marriage, family courts, divorce and separation. Series contains correspondence, meeting minutes, booklet, newspaper clippings, typescripts, and other textual records.

Series consists of Janet M. Eaton's materials regarding her professional involvement with the Canadian Association for Adult Education. Series includes correspondence, reports, clippings, conference programmes, meeting minutes, and other textual records.

Administrative records of the Halifax Camerata Singers

Series contains records pertaining to the management of the Halifax Camerata Singers, including financial records, correspondence, minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors, and records relating to the plans for each concert season. The records are organized by concert season, starting with the inception of the Camerata Singers in 1986-1987.

Series contains materials related to Kerslake’s involvement with organizations or events related to her writing. The organizations represented in the series are the Writer’s Federation of Nova Scotia, the Writer’s Council of Nova Scotia, and CBC. The events represented in this series are the Dalhousie Medical School’s Medicine and the Humanities event, the Maritime Writer’s Workshop, and an Arts Festival.

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio program, Artscape. This program features interviews and reviews relating to art productions in Halifax, including film, music, and visual art.

Dr. Johnson’s Travelling Medicine Show

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio 88.1 program Dr. Johnson’s Travelling Medicine Show. This program features Dr. Johnson of Dalhousie Student Health. It is part of the “Upwardly Mobile” program (CKDU’s morning Public Affairs program) at 8am on Thursdays, hosted by Jennifer Garvey and Mike Hymers.

From these Roots

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio program, From these Roots. The series was part of CKDU's public affairs program The Evening Affair. From these Roots includes features and interviews with African-Canadians, primarily from Nova Scotia.

Learning about AIDS

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio 88.1 program Learning About AIDS. This is a two part program prepared by CKDU's city reporter, Donna Mayer, and outlines the dangers of AIDS, safe sex, and the hysteria and discrimination that revolves around it. The series was run for the first time in January of an unknown year.

Series contains materials regarding Brian Hall's publications. Materials include figures and original visuals for various publications, as well as reviews and correspondence about Hall's books.

Work and seminars

Series contains materials related to Brian Hall's work and seminars. Written materials include programmes and notices for seminars, protocols, notes taken by Hall at seminars, and Hall's Student Ratings of Instructions (SRIs) for 2006 - 2007.

GayLine administrative records

Series contains administrative records for the GayLine, established in 1972. GayLine was renamed to the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Line in 1994. Materials in this series include GayLine monthly and annual reports; call logs and templates; staff notebooks; correspondence; memos, minutes, and a certificate of incorporation relating to the name change; and notes.

2008 Community Hero Awards

Series contains photographs taken by Dr. Brenda Hattie at the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project [NSRAP]'s first Community Hero Awards, held in October, 2008 at Pier 21. The event was hosted by Cape Breton-based comedian Bette MacDonald, and honoured Halifax-based LGBT activist Daniel MacKay for his service to Nova Scotia's LGBT community.
