Programs and publications

Series contains the printed programs given by the Symphony to those in attendance at concerts and fundraising events. It also contains newsletters and season brochures for single-ticket sales and subscriptions.

This series includes the following types of materials: calendars and calendar preparation; convocation and graduation programs, speeches and general information; faculty and student newsletters; theses and student project files; general and specific course bibliographies; school history texts, brochures and flyers; course-related materials and publications; field study information.

Meeting minutes

Series consists of meeting minutes of the Dalhousie-King’s Reading Club. It also contains related materials including correspondence, programmes of meetings, and newspaper clippings.

Personal archives of Graham Creighton

Series consists of correspondence, financial papers, and personal papers of Graham Creighton. Records in the series were created and/or accumulated by Graham Creighton and pertain primarily to his family life or business enterprises prior to becoming a school superintendent.

Class Records

This series consists of records relating to English courses taught by Sprott while a professor at Dalhousie University, along with some material from his time teaching at McGill, Brooklyn College and Columbia. Types of records include reading lists, class lecture notes, assignments, exams and completed exams by students.

Correspondence of Samuel Ernest Sprott

This series consists of professional and some personal correspondence written by and to Sprott. Correspondents include current and former students and collegues and friends regarding scholarships, recommendations, Neptune theatre, research and donating papers to Dalhousie University Archives.

Microfilm

This series consist of rolls of microfilm of 16th and 17th century English and Italian manuscripts obtained by Sprott for research.

Correspondence of James Aitchison

Series consists of correspondence addressed to Aitchison from family, friends, and colleagues covering topics such as the New Democratic Party, Canadian politics, activities in the political science department at Dalhousie, as well as personal and familial correspondence.

Public Policing in Nova Scotia

Series comprises records created or collected by Richard Apostle documenting his research on public policing in Nova Scotia for the Royal Commission on the Donald Marshall, Jr., Prosecution. Record types include correspondence; interview transcripts; provincial police department and RCMP surveys; police officer information sheets; police training manuals and annual reports; statistics; newspaper clippings and secondary research materials; and a response by the Canadian government to the inquiry and reports.

Personal papers of James Aitchison

Series consists of newspaper clippings about Aitchison, his curriculum vitae, a manuscript of a toast at his anniversary by close friend Leddy, and a microfilm of an unrevised manuscript by A. McInnis.

Series contains materials created by Budge Wilson that not directly related to her career as an author. Files include Budge Wilson's diaries and calendars and materials relating to her job as a fitness instructor and photographer.

Series contains newspaper clippings, printouts from websites, and publisher's catalogues that feature reviews and promotional material about Budge Wilson's books. The series also contains drafts of press releases written by Budge Wilson to promote her books and newspaper articles that feature Budge Wilson and her writing career.

Books and short story anthologies by Budge Wilson

Series consists of research, manuscripts, and drafts of books and short story anthologies written by Budge Wilson. Series also contains some draft illustrations by Budge Wilson and artists with whom she collaborated, including Terry Roscoe, and signed, published copies of her books.

Dalhousie University

Series consists of academic and administrative records, correspondence, publications, drafts, and reports from Elisabeth Mann Borgese's time at Dalhousie University. Borgese first came to Dalhousie University in 1978 as a Killam Fellow at the Center for Foreign Policy Studies, where she worked on a number of ocean-related projects. She later became a professor in the Department of Political Science, where her duties included thesis supervision, research, and teaching.

James Dinwiddie's personal journals or land logs

Series contains journals kept by James Dinwiddie between 1779 and 1812, during which time he travelled and lived in Ireland, Paris, Canton, Madras, Calcutta, Edinburgh and London. Some journals were written while he was at sea and many others are labelled as "land logs."

Royal Institution

Series contains documents related to the Royal Institution of Great Britain, including meeting notices, minutes, ballot lists, and a printed Royal Act increasing the institution's powers. There are also two bound journals of Dinwiddie's notes on lectures given at the institution on topics including astronomy, chemistry and biology.

Dalhousie University Libraries reports and submissions

Series contains reports, submissions, planning proposals and other documents created, commissioned or collected by the Dalhousie University Libraries. Departmental and unit reports are located in the department/unit records series; committee reports are found in the committees and task forces series; and reports of the University Librarian are held within the University Librarian series.

Series comprises records created and collected by the Dalhousie Alumni Association that document their administration and governance, including meeting minutes, laws and bylaws, executive, committee and division reports, correspondence, membership (subscription) and financial records.

Administrative and operational records of the Dalhousie University Institute of Public Affairs

Series consists of documents accumulated by the administration of the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA). The majority of materials are minutes, memorandums, correspondence, and reports created by, or related to, several committees within the IPA. These committees were designed to develop policies, facilitate decision-making, manage projects, and maintain positive relationships with Dalhousie University administration. Series also contains several news and press releases issued by the IPA to generate publicity for important events hosted by the Institute or achievements of its staff. Series also contains academic plans and program guides produced by the IPA which offer insight into the curriculum at Henson College.

Series contains records created or collected by the James Dunn Law Library, primarily related to its original building and restoration after the 1985 fire.

Series contains records created and collected by the Sexton Design and Technology Library, primarily related to the 1997 merger between Dalhousie and the Technical University of Nova Scotia, and the 2005 library review.

Medical Dental Library records

Series consists of records created, collected or otherwise pertaining to the Medical Dental Library and earlier iterations of the library that served Dalhousie's faculties of medicine and dentistry before the establishment of the W.K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library in 1967. Record types include annual reports, accession books, journal and library holdings lists, committee reports and minutes, borrowing statistics, financial records and correspondence.
