Bluenose II

Series contains records regarding the construction, operation, maintenance, and sale of Bluenose II. Records were primarily created by Oland and Son Limited. Series is divided into nine Sub-Series: Administrative, Blueprints, Charters and Tours, Correspondence, Financial, Marketing and Advertising, Photographs, Public Relations, and Scrapbooks.

Administrative Sub-Series contains records relating to the maintenance and operation of Bluenose II. Sub-Series includes meeting minutes, memorandums, company reports, specifications, and other administrative records.

Blueprints Sub-Series contains blueprints and sketches of the Bluenose II, Bluenose II wharf, and a souvenir kiosk at Expo '67. Most blueprints were prepared by Smith and Rhuland Limited.

Charters and Tours Sub-Series contains records relating to the sailing of the Bluenose II. Records include schedules, requests for tours and charters, reservations, guest lists, and thank you letters.

Correspondence Sub-Series contains correspondence between Oland and Son Limited and various businesses, organizations, government agencies, and individuals regarding the Bluenose II. Sub-Series includes correspondence from Oland and Son to the Bluenose II while in foreign waters, correspondence regarding the general maintenance and operation of the Bluenose II, applications for berths, and correspondence regarding various activities and programs surrounding the Bluenose II.

Financial Sub-Series contains cost statements of operating the Bluenose II and financial reports.

Marketing and Advertising Sub-Series contains marketing reports prepared by Backman Advertising for Oland and Son and promotional materials created to market the Bluenose II. Some marketing and advertising records created by Oland and Son deal jointly with the Bluenose II and other products and brands owned by Oland and Son or its affiliated companies. Photographs Sub-Series contains photographs of the Bluenose II and its crew at various locations in Canada and the Caribbean. Sub-Series also contains photographs of various ceremonies and events involving the Bluenose II, including the launching ceremony.

Public Relations Sub-Series contains press releases, announcements, and publications involving the Bluenose II. Scrapbooks Sub-Series contains two scrapbooks with newspaper clippings and Bluenose II ephemera.

Series contains correspondence and service materials related to Sylvia Hamilton, including Nancy's Chair in Women's Studies and Women in Film and Television Atlantic.

Lindwood Holdings Limited

Series consists of the records of Lindwood Holdings Limited. Some records were created by Oland and Son Limited, Oland Investments Limited, and Keith Hall Investments Limited. Series is broken in to five Sub-Series: Administrative, Correspondence, Financial, Labour and Employee Relations, and Photographs.

Administrative Sub-Series consists of the administrative records of the company's executive members and include meeting minutes of the Board of Directors and the President's Committee, agendas, annual reports, inter-office memorandums, property management records and various agreements the company entered into.

Correspondence Sub-Series consists of correspondence between Lindwood Holdings Limited and its various business associates. Correspondence is typically filed by the name of the correspondent or by the subject of the correspondence file. Sub-Series also contains personal correspondence belonging to H. Norman Stanbury and Bruce Oland. Company correspondence may exist in other sub-series if it was filed with records belonging to that series.

Financial Sub-Series consists of the financial records of the company and the records of its investment activities. Sub-Series includes financial statements, memorandums and correspondence regarding company investments, investment notes, valuations of company shares, dividend payments, and correspondence regarding the investment accounts of company executives.

Labour and Employee Relations Sub-Series consists of records relating to the administration of the company pension fund and employee benefits and includes meeting minutes of the trustees of the pension fund, financial statements, lists of pensioners, memorandums regarding employee wages and benefits, and correspondence.

Photographs Sub-Series contains photographs documenting a fire at the Keith's Brewery facility on Lower Water Street.

Series is broken into three subseries: Administrative, Correspondence, and Financial.

Administrative subseries contains reports on the formation of Oland Investments Limited, agreements, and meeting minutes and annual reports from Ben's Holdings Limited.

Correspondence subseries contains correspondence about various investments and agreements made by Oland Investments Limited.

Financial subseries contains financial statements of Oland Investments Limited and a sample of financial statements of Ben's Holdings Limited.

Business archives of A. Keith and Son Limited

Series contains the records of A. Keith and Son Limited that were created after the company was purchased by Oland and Son Limited and before it was bought by John Labatt Limited. Series also contains some financial records from A. Keith and Son created prior to being purchased by Oland and Son Limited. Note: All records that deal jointly with A. Keith and Son and Oland and Son are filed in the Oland and Son Limited series.

Series is broken into nine sub-series: Administrative, Beer Production, Correspondence, Financial, Labour and Employee Relations, Legal, Marketing and Advertising, and Photographs.

Administrative sub-series contains records created by the administrative branches of A. Keith and Son and include inventories, appraisals, meeting minutes, responses to various surveys from the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, and company reports and memorandums.

Beer Production sub-series contains records created by the Production Department, Bottling Department, and non-sales related records from the Shipping Department. Records include brewers' recipe books, logbooks, yeast books, and production reports. Some beer production records for Olands Brewery Limited are also filed in the Beer Production Sub-Series of Oland and Son Limited.

Blueprints sub-series contains prints and sketches of brewery equipment and buildings.

Correspondence sub-series contains correspondence and related records created by various departments of A. Keith and Son, primarily the executive offices of the company. Most correspondence is filed by the name of the correspondent. Some correspondence is filed by the subject of the correspondence file. Correspondents include businesses and suppliers, associations and government agencies, and other companies affiliated with Oland and Son.

Financial sub-series contains financial records created by executives of A. Keith and Son and the company's auditors and accountants. Records include audited financial statements, a sample of unaudited financial statements, cost statements, general ledgers, share registers, and other financial summaries. Some financial records for Olands Brewery Limited are also filed in the Beer Production Sub-Series of Oland and Son Limited.

Labour and Employee Relations sub-series contains records created by the Labour Management Committee and representatives from Local 361 of the International Union of United Brewery, Flour, Cereal, Soft Drink, and Distillery Workers of America. Records include meeting minutes, surveys, labour agreements, and other employee records. Some labour and employee relations records for Olands Brewery Limited are also filed in the Beer Production Sub-Series of Oland and Son Limited.

Legal sub-series contains the Memorandum of Association, a brewers' license application, and other agreements.

Marketing and Advertising sub-series contains records created for A. Keith and Son by advertising companies. Records include an advertising budget and sample advertisiments.

Photographs sub-series contains photographs and negatives of the brewery and of sports teams sponsored by A. Keith and Son.

Oland's Breweries (1971) Limited

Series contains the records of Oland's Breweries (1971) Limited. Records range from before the company's inception to 1977. Some records involve Oland and Son Limited and Olands Brewers Grain and Yeast Limited. Series is broken into eight Sub-Series: Administrative, Beer Production, Correspondence, Labour and Employee Relations, Legal, Marketing and Advertising, Photographs, and Sales Department.

Administrative Sub-Series contains the records of company executives, and include meeting minutes, company reports on public relations and budgets, inter-office memorandums, and some insurance claims.

Beer Production Sub-Series contains a brew book and reports on beer cartons.

Correspondence Sub-Series contains correspondence between executives of Oland's Breweries (1971) Limited and various businesses and associations. Correspondence is typically filed by the correspondent.

Labour and Employee Relations Sub-Series contains meeting minutes of meetings between company management and union leaders, employee share purchase plans, and the records of the Trustees of the Pension Plan of Oland's Breweries (1971) Limited.

Legal Sub-Series contains a lease agreement and power of attorney.

Marketing and Advertising Sub-Series contains records from the Sales Department that relate specifically to marketing and advertising. Sub-Series includes advertising budgets and estimates, correspondence with advertising firms, advertising proofs, and reports.

Photographs Sub-Series contains photographs of beer delivery trucks and a company reception.

Sales Department Sub-Series contains all other records from the Sales Department, including sales reports, requests for donations and customer complaints, meeting minutes, and inter-office memorandums and correspondence regarding beer delivery and sales.

Dalhousie Alumnae Association

Series contains correspondence regarding administration of the association, subscriptions, information requests and updates, and photograph acquisition requests. Records include minutes of the Executive Council and minutes of semi-annual and annual general meetings.

Video recordings

Series contains video recordings of the Nova Scotia Mass Choir from 1992 to 2010.

Recordings include rehearsals for the annual Martin Luther King concert, performances, trips, awards shows, and two series of the Hallelujah television program.

Sound recordings

Series contains sound recordings related to the Nova Scotia Mass Choir from 1992 to 2007.

Recordings include various performances, interviews, studio recordings, and radio broadcasts.

Posters

Series consists of a posters related to the Nova Scotia Mass Choir and various performances, including the annual Martin Luther King concert, album releases, and other performances.

Series consists of photographs related to the Nova Scotia Mass Choir from 1925 to 2021.

Public relations material

Series contains material relating to the various exhibitions and events sponsored by the Khyber Arts Society. Included in the series are posters, pamphlets and programs.

Medical Dental Library records

Series consists of records created, collected or otherwise pertaining to the Medical Dental Library and earlier iterations of the library that served Dalhousie's faculties of medicine and dentistry before the establishment of the W.K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library in 1967. Record types include annual reports, accession books, journal and library holdings lists, committee reports and minutes, borrowing statistics, financial records and correspondence.

Sexton Design and Technology Library records

Series contains records created and collected by the Sexton Design and Technology Library, primarily related to the 1997 merger between Dalhousie and the Technical University of Nova Scotia, and the 2005 library review.
