Fathers of confederation-miniature portraits exhibition

File consists of records related to the travelling exhibition 'Miniature Portraits of the Fathers of Confederation' presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery from October 11-21, 1967, through the Centennial Commission. The portraits were created by Juliette de Lavoys and commissioned by Samuel L. Bronfman, who donated the collection to Canada.

Records consist of an exhibition itinerary, a Dalhousie newsletter, correspondence between Evelyn Holmes (Acting Curator, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and the Centennial Commission, and Roy King (Manager, New Bureau; representative of Mr. Bronfman), a shipping invoice, and exhibition instructions.

Films 1968-69

File consists of records related to the organizing, planning, and presenting of the Lunch Hour Series and Evening Series film screenings produced by the Dalhousie Art Gallery during the period of 1968-1969.

Records consist mainly of publicity notes including the date and times of each screening, the film, a short description, and list of coinciding exhibitions open at the gallery. Additional records consist of correspondence of Evelyn Holmes (Acting Curator, Dalhousie Art Gallery).

Financial statements and minutes for the Board of Directors

File contains records relating to the 1987-1988 concert season of the Halifax Camerata Singers, including financial statements and minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors. The file also includes correspondence and a program for a concert by the choir entitled "20th Century Choral Music of England and France," which took place at the First Baptist Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 21, 1988. The file also includes a copy of their ticket control policy and records of choir fees for each member of the choir.

First Dalhousie drawing exhibition

File consists of records related to the first annual Dalhousie drawing exhibition, organized and selected by Michael Snow. The show was held at Dalhousie Art Gallery from January 9 - 28, 1976. The artists that participated in this exhibition were Michael Snow, Royden Rabinowitch, Joyce Wieland, John Meredith, Ron Martin and Dennis Burton.

Records consist of a list of works exhibited, biographies of included artists, a floor plan, clippings, interdepartmental memos, insurance documents, lists of expenses, invoices, and correspondence with Michael Snow and other galleries(lenders to the exhibition). Also includes invitation cards and photographs of drawings, including "Musical Chairs" and "Drive #2" by Michael Snow and "Dream" by Joyce Wieland and a picture of "Notebook #42, 1973, pages 69-70" by Dennis Burton.

First national survey of lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals in Canada materials

File contains materials relating to Bob Fougere's participation in the distribution of the First National Survey of Lesbians, Gay Men, and Bisexuals in Canada in 1998. Materials include correspondence, one copy of the survey distribution kit, one copy of the media kit, and one copy of the distribution tracking form.

Records consist of two copies of condition report and an article titled 'Rey Poetically Persuasive,' written by Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) of the Dalhousie Gazette published on October 26, 1973. Records also include correspondence from the Embassy of Argentina in Ottawa, a copy of a paper titled 'Exciting exhibition by Argentine artist' of the Ottawa Journal published on October 17, 1973.

FMAP: Future of Marine Animal Populations

Subseries contains correspondence, research data, and conference minutes and notes related to the Census of Marine Life subcommittee Future of Marine Animal Populations (FMAP). The Future of Marine Animal Populations project analyzed fishing data and scientific surveys to determine changes in diversity and distribution of marine life. The project, headed by Canadian scientists Ian Jonsen, Heike Lotze, and Boris Worm (and previously by Ransom Myers), identified hot spots of diversity drawn from the Census of Marine Life database and changes in water temperature as one of the most integral determinants in the shaping of marine diversity patterns, while confirming that marine conservation helps to correct the rapid population declines associated with over-exploitation of marine stocks.

File contains six manuscript copies of For Independence, broadcast by CBC Radio in 1982. File also contains a contract, correspondence and a chronology outlining the evolution of the script and its production.

File contains one copy of the open letter entitled For your information – We are the men who took our shirts off last Saturday night. This letter was written by members of the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA) in response to a ban on shirtless dancing for women at Rumours bar and related actions undertaken by members of GALA's board.

Ford Foundation proposal

File contains correspondence regarding grants from the Ford Foundation for collaborative study between Harvard and the University of Ibadan. Also includes "Proposal for a program of research in mental health and mental illness."

Forum Gwom oral history

File consists of loose leaf handwritten notes related to oral history and field research performed by James Morrison in the Jos Plateau, Nigeria. The file contains one typed questionnaire entitled : 'Yoruba on the Plateau" and is dated July, 1972. The file contains a piece of correspondence in Hausa written by Albert Gwom and James Morrison. The file contains handwritten calendars with dates assigned to Forum, Heipang, Riyom, Vwang, Bachit, Ropp, Du, Gashish, Gyel, Fan, and Kuru. The file contains handwritten questions for interviews with elders, and research notes on Irrigwe origin stories.
