Reference and other materials pertain to a wide variety of topics, including golf, education in Nova Scotia, political movements and current affairs, social causes, labour, management, and the activities of many local, provincial and national societies.

Hart House collects 1968-69 exhibitions

File consists of records related to the exhibition 'Hart House Collects: Recent Acquisitions' organized by the National Gallery of Canada and presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery from March 28 - April 20, 1969.

Records consist of a condition report and attached packing list and booking agreement, descriptive exhibition text, and two photocopied journal articles: 'The Hart House Collection' by Donald Buchanan, published in Canadian Art Volume 5, No. 2, and 'The Hart House Collection of Canadian Art' by Ian Montagnes, published in Canadian Art Volume 20, No. 4.

Henry Orenstein's records

Series consists of Henry Orenstein's materials regarding his professional activities, including photographs, negatives, sketches, programs, flyers, posters, postcards, slides, correspondence and other materials. Fonds contains several of Henry Orenstein's art pieces and sketches, including related to the "Sudbury Industrial Landscape" project. In the 1950s, Henry Orenstein was commissioned by the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers of Sudbury to paint a mural for the local union hall, which was the centre of a broad-ranging cultural role of Mine Mill Local 598 in the Sudbury area. At that time, Mine Mill was in the midst of a series of raids by the United Steelworkers.

In the offing : a tribute to Bliss Carman

Item is a copy of In the Offing: A Tribute to Bliss Carman, which was printed for private circultion by The Abanaki Press in Halifax in June 1929. It was considered the thirteenth number of The Song Sheet and dedicated to Carman. Table of contents include: The sea gypsy / Richard Hovey. -- In the offing / Bliss Carman. -- Reinforcement for the city under the star / Charles Bruce. -- Flood tide / Ethel H. Butler. -- Go, lank rover / Kenneth Leslie. -- What new wonders / Andrew Merkel. The issue includes a small original photograph pasted to the first page and a printed photograph of Bliss Carman taken by M.O. Hammon attached to the back cover.
