Peter B. Waite's personal diaries collection

Series consists of Peter B. Waite's daily personal diaries collection covering the period 1925/1926, 1929, 1931-1933, 1938-1950, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1962-1963. The diaries may have been kept by his mother, Mary (Craig) Waite with descriptions about European trips and recipes.

Series contains "Urban Enumerators' Manual" (1961); "Instructions for Urban Enumerators (1962); "General Election Instructions for Returning Officers" (1962); "Instructions for Deputy Returning Officers at Ordinary Polls" (1964); "Instructions for Rural Enumerators" (1964); and "General Election Instructions for Returning Officers" (1964).

Maritime Supplies and Exchange Limited

Series contains the records of Maritime Supplies and Exchange Limited and its predecessor company, European Importers Limited. The majority of records were created between 1955 and 1964, the period in which the company changed its name and expanded its operations.

Series is broken into six Sub-Series: Administrative, Correspondence, Financial, Legal, Photographs, and Sales Department.

Administrative Sub-Series includes company insurance policies, a sales tax license, and a company report.

Correspondence Sub-Series includes correspondence with various distributors and suppliers of machine parts and bottles and customers of European Importers Limited and Maritime Supplies and Exchange Limited. The majority of the companies' records are found in this Sub-Series. Correspondence is typically filed alphabetically by the name of the correspondent.

Financial Sub-Series includes financial statements, synoptic cash books, sales journals and a sample of purchase orders. Financial statements for Macaskill Pictures Limited are also in this Sub-Series. Legal Sub-Series includes agreements and debentures regarding financing and loans made to other companies.

Photographs Sub-Series includes photographs of factory equipment and factories affiliated with Maritime Supplies and Exchange Limited.

Sales Department Sub-Series includes a sample of product brochures and sales catalogues, monthly reports on bottles received, and a sample of weekly sales reports.

Alexander Kerr's notes and sermons

Series contains notes and sermons (typewritten and handwritten) by Kerr on loose pages or in notebooks. There are several complete and draft sermons on various themes, and almost all of the material is of a religious nature.

Vincent MacDonald's correspondence

Series contains primarily professional correspondence, including many short notes of congratulations on Vincent MacDonald's appointment to the Supreme Court. There are also newsletters and programs from societies and clubs in which he had an interest.

Annual and monthly reports

Series consists of annual and monthly reports of the Halifax Visiting Dispensary. The reports contain minutes of the annual meetings, directors' and secretaries' reports, reports of the medical board, dental reports, data about prescriptions filled, year-end financial statements, and lists of the dispensary officers. The series also includes an agenda created for the 1964 annual meeting, the directors and summarized reports for 1960 year-end, and the secretary's and summarized report for 1961 year-end.

Newspaper clippings

Series contains newspaper clippings about Ellen Ballon. Clippings include articles about a variety of subjects, including Ellen Ballon's life in general, concerts, and her hobbies.

Sales and shipping operations

This series consists of operational records of Lunenburg Outfitting Co., specifically sales and shipping. The types of records include fish sales and shipping books, salt books, certificate of incorporation and a list of crew members.

Personal archives of Linda deBedia Oland

Series consists of textual records related to the personal life and volunteer activities of Linda deBedia Oland. Series also contains three portraits of Bruce Oland. Files in the series were mixed in the Oland and Son fonds (MS-4-135). No other records from Linda deBedia Oland are known to exist.

Records relating to the regional and national activities of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick branches of the National Farm Radio Forum

Series contains records related to the operations of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Farm Radio Forum branches and their contributions to the the National Farm Radio Forum from 1937-65. Records include pamphlets, scripts, correspondence, memos, newsletters, guides, National Secretaries report, annual reports from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick regions, and minutes from the regional and national meetings and conferences.
Some of the records were created and collected by Longly and C.A. Douglas, as well as regional secretary Rosemary Campbell.
The National Farm Radio Forum was a national rural listening-discussion group project sponsored by the Canadian Association for Adult Education, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and CBC. Initially, this program was a dramatized discussion of farm problems in wartime, arranged in cooperation with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, and the Canadian Association for Adult Education. Eventually, it evolved into discussions by individuals from various communities across the country. The program was developed by Orville Shugg and Neil Morrison.

Personal archives of Wilfred E. Knickle

Some of the records in this series belonged to Captain Adam Knickle. The following are subseries under Wilfred E. Knickle; correspondence, Heckman's Island School, legal, personal papers, Lunenburg Outfitting Co. and vessel papers. Correspondence consists of all correspondence by Wilfred E. Knickle; Heckman's Island School consists of auditor reports, meeting minutes, a teacher agreement and other records related to the school; Legal consists of records such as wills, deeds and insurance belonging to Adam Knickle, Wilfred Knickle and his wife and her family; Personal Papers consists of Knickle and his wife's marriage certificate, Captain Adam Knickle's shareholders book of the Bluenose schooner and various note and bank books belonging to Wilfred Knickle; Lunenburg Outfitting Co. consists of order books, printed material regarding the scallop and fish industry and an oil and gas ledger; Vessel Papers consist of records related to vessels, such as bills of sale, register of shipping and a protest.

Correspondence of Acadian Supplies Company

This series contains all general business correspondence. The majority of the correspondence is between Acadian Supply Co. and its clients and shareholders, discussing business, vessels, suppliers or accounts. Clients include the Town of Lunenburg, the Department of Fisheries and The Department of Transport. Suppliers include the Dominion Coal Company, Customold Plastics and Blue Coal Ltd.

Financial records of Acadian Supplies Company

This series contains a record book, financial statements and shareholder reports, a cash book, sales reports, inventory and an order book for the saw mill. The majority of the records are financial statements for both Acadian Supplies and Acadian Vessels listing their expenditures for the years they have been in operation.

Political career of James Aitchison

Series consists of records relating to Aitchison’s political career as leader of Nova Scotia’s New Democratic Party and as president of the party. Types of records include statements made as leader of the party, campaign pamphlets, and a provincial electoral commission report.

Correspondence of Adams and Knickle Limited

Correspondence series consists of Adams & Knickle's general business correspondence and business correspondence concerning its fishing, shipping and vessel operations. The information contained in this series relates to fishing and shipping transactions; relations with both local and foreign agents; shipping events and voyages throughout the Atlantic Ocean; maintenance and refitting of vessels; insurance policies; and legal vessel matters. The Vessel Operations series also contain captain's correspondence and shipping agents' correspondence concerning specific transactions with vessels and events relating to Adams & Knickle vessels.

Legal matters of Acadian Supplies Company

This series contains insurance policies, legal contracts, court papers, Nova Scotia Company Act and shareholder related records. The insurance policies cover stock, buildings and machinery of Acadian Supplies Company legal contracts include an indenture and use of land. Court papers record major debts owed to Acadian Supplies Company. The shareholder related records include a sample of stock certificates for Acadian Supplies and Vessel Company, shareholder meeting minutes, lists of shareholders and stocks owned by Acadian Supplies.

Medical Dental Library records

Series consists of records created, collected or otherwise pertaining to the Medical Dental Library and earlier iterations of the library that served Dalhousie's faculties of medicine and dentistry before the establishment of the W.K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library in 1967. Record types include annual reports, accession books, journal and library holdings lists, committee reports and minutes, borrowing statistics, financial records and correspondence.

Dalhousie no. 7 stationary hospital

The Dalhousie University No. 7 "Overseas" Stationary Hospital was established in response to the need for qualified medical personnel required to serve in the First World War. It was first mobilized on November 9, 1915 at Dalhousie Medical College in Halifax. Balcom was involved as pharmacist and stock keeper for the second half of the war. In later years he was an active force in keeping the survivors in touch and organising reunion events.

Radio and television broadcast scripts

Series contains more than two dozen typescripts (unless otherwise noted) of Thomas Head Raddall's radio and television broadcasts. The bulk of these are his own scripts, not others' adaptations of his work.

This series contains administrative and operational records for Acadian Supplies Company and Acadian Vessel Company These records include tenders, annual statements for the joint stock registry, Dominion Statistic surveys and directors listing.
