Item discussing the recent passing of Archibald MacMechan, outlining goals for the freshman class, and warning of the "terrible situation that has overtaken academic life in Germany" and the threat to "intellectual freedom everywhere" posed by rise of the Nazis, and the need to ward off "selfish apathy and indifference", before encouraging all in attendance to go to Professor [Alfred Eckhard] Zimmern's forthcoming lecture series.
