The fonds consists of records that document the administrative and operational activities of the Faculty of Medicine. These include general correspondence, minutes (faculty and departmental), financial records, reports, statistics, administrative relationships, program information, course materials, examination records, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, photographs as well as provide evidence of relationships with outside organizations.

Principally, the material is composed of records from the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine. To facilitate access to the collection the materials have been organized into 17 different series.

Fonds contains the personal papers, photographs, and sound recordings of Barbara Hinds. The personal papers mostly consist of research material, drafts of articles, and newspaper clippings of articles related to Barbara Hinds' journalism career, but also include correspondence, research notes, diaries, maps, and manuscripts. The sound recordings were mostly created during Barbara Hinds' travels in the Canadian arctic and include several interviews. The photographs include prints, slides, negatives, and proof sheets, and were mostly taken in the Canadian arctic but also include research material and personal photographs.

Fonds comprises diaries and correspondence written during MacDonald's time in service and include letters to his parents and siblings sent from training camps in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Aldershot, England, as well as Belgium. Transcriptions of this material were written by Mrs. I.M. Parfitt (Margaret MacDonald's daughter); these are annotated and include notes on the family and draft sections of a family biography. Also included in the fonds are letters from Willie H. Cameron to his cousin, Margaret MacDonald, written in 1918 from Halifax and Camp Bramshott, Surrey.
