Name of creator
Dr. McKean was born in Toney Mills, Pictou County in 1910. He graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1934 with distinction, winning the Gold Medal. After completing post-graduate studies at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, he served in both the British and Canadian Medical Corps and settled into a medical practice in Truro. Dr. McKean retired in 1984 and passed away in September of 1991.
Accession 48-91. The records were donated by Mrs. Elizabeth Day, daughter of Dr. McKean, in 1991.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of three cash journals and a cash book with financial records of Dr. McKean's medical practice.
Immediate source of acquisition
Missing from the fonds are three prints, one of Dalhousie Univeristy Faculty of Medicine (Class of 1934) and two of Pine Hill Residence (1929/1930 and 1930/1931).
