Series consists of records created and collected by Richard Apostle that document his involvement in establishing a regional development research institute in Klaksvik, Faroe Islands. His primary scholarly output from this collaborative endeavour was the book The Restructuration of the Faroese Economy: The Significance of the Inner Periphery, by Richard Apostle, Dennis Holm, Gestur Hovgaard, Olavur Waag Hognesen and Bjarni Mortensen. A subseries contains records documenting the development of a book about the amalgamation of municipalities in the Faroe Islands. Records types include correspondence; draft manuscripts; studies and papers; budgets and financial reports; meeting minutes; and research data and notes. Marginal Work World Research Program

Series comprises records created and collected by Richard Apostle documenting his work in the Marginal Work World Research Program, an interdisciplinary and long-term examination of employment and work settings in the Maritime provinces carried out through the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University. Richard Apostle's research focused on two projects: the General Segmentation Survey, which involved the collection and analysis of private sector employment data across the Maritimes; and the longitudinal Morphology Survey, which sampled low-wage establishments across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and included managerial personnel and employee interviews. Record types include secondary readings and notes; datasets; agreements; recorded interview and transcripts; manuscripts and published papers; meeting records; and correspondence and memoranda.

Series consists of records created and collected by Henry Hicks that document his interests and activities outside of his professional political and university careers, including committee work, social engagements, community involvement and travel. This fonds consists primarily of records related to the Board of Governors collected by Farquhar during his time on the board, including minutes; the report A Survey and Plan of Fund-raising for Dalhousie University; and a file of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and publications related to President Stanley Carleton’s resignation.

The fonds also includes some other miscellaneous materials collected by Farquhar related to the history of Dalhousie or the province, and associations/events with which he was involved. These records include pamphlets, song books, biographical sketches of some notable Nova Scotians, and a number of event programs and invitations.

Fonds consists of a wide range of records from both MOVE and MOVE coalition members, consisting of administrative records to material on social issues. Records include meeting minutes from the board and staff; material on operations; records on funding and finances; material on activities and participation of MOVE such as conferences, seminars, and workshops; various material on internal committees and external committees; various material on MOVE coalition member groups; resource and reference material that made up much of MOVE's library as well as research information they used for various publications for citizen awareness. In addition, the above records contain material that target many social issues such as environment, human rights, poverty, unemployment, city planning, and transit issues.

Series contains materials relating to the formation and operations of the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS], a non-profit advocacy organization for persons living with HIV/AIDS based in Halifax. ACNS was formed in 1996 via the merger of two pre-existing organizations, the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition and AIDS Nova Scotia, and still operates today. Materials in subseries include administrative records such as meeting notices, minutes, and agendas; memos and correspondence; planning materials for ACNS events; proposals, research materials, and reference materials; and notes.

Series contains materials produced or collected as part of Larry Baxter's involvement with community HIV/AIDS organizations in Nova Scotia, including AIDS Nova Scotia [formerly MACAIDS], the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition [NSPWAC], and the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS]. Materials in this series document health and legal advocacy efforts for persons with HIV/AIDS, including research, lobbying, and community events.

Series contains materials related to AIDS-LINK, a volunteer-based project operated by CARAS to institute interfaith pastoral services for persons living with HIV/AIDS. The project was launched in 1996 and ceased operations in the early 2000s.
