File contains records relating to the 1987-1988 concert season of the Halifax Camerata Singers, including financial statements and minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors. The file also includes correspondence and a program for a concert by the choir entitled "20th Century Choral Music of England and France," which took place at the First Baptist Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 21, 1988. The financial administration of the Symphony is documented though budgets, statements, ledgers, and tickets sales data.

The fonds also contains concert programs and promotional material such as posters, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, and other publications. The final section of the fonds consists of audiovisual and graphic material. There are audio recordings of performances and interviews of Symphony personnel as well as video recordings of advertisements and performances. Fonds contains music manuscripts and published scores, photographs, and autograph letters written by well-known composers such as Jacques Offenbach, Giuseppe Verdi, and John Philip Sousa. Through his work as a music critic and journalist in Toronto and Halifax, Logan communicated with many prominent Canadian musicians in the early twentieth century. Many of the scores, photographs, and autographs included in this collection are a result of his contributions to music criticism. The music and theatre programs are frequently annotated with comments for reviews, and most of his correspondence with musicians and actors relates to his work as a music and theatre critic. Some of the scores were given to Logan as gifts from performers while others were sent to him for review or publication in newspapers. There are several manuscripts of songs by Edith Jessie Archibald, a prominent social activist and suffragist in Halifax. Letters sent to Logan also concern his poetic contributions, and there is a manuscript draft of one of his books, Preludes: Sonnets and other Verses (1906).

This material spans almost 60 years and gives insight into a company which changed hands several times, and also represented an important part of Nova Scotia industry. Through the material one is able to get a complete picture of the process of manufacturing pulp, from acquiring timber and land to machinery and labour used, to exporting the end product; it also demonstrates how business was conducted. Fonds demonstrates the organizational structure, management, and operations of the Scott Paper company, and provide insight into business operations in Nova Scotia in the 20th century.

This fonds consists of records which document the personal and business activities and interests of Alfred Dickie and, to a lesser extent, those of his immediate family and employees. Although the records span Dickie’s lifetime, few relate to his childhood, education, or final two years of life. Some items, in particular those concerning his export lumber business or his travels, derive from various places in North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and South Africa, though by far the majority are found to be located within Nova Scotia.

The fonds includes correspondence, business and administrative records, speeches, photographs, legal documents, and plans, among other materials. Records are chiefly in English, although a very small portion are in French, Norwegian, Finnish, Spanish, and Italian.

File contains an envelope address to The Bill Lynch Shows from Ethel (no last name specified) dated in Amherst November 18, 1942, and Halifax November 20-30, a blank labor service card with notes on the back, a card requesting name and address on the front of letters and parcels, a letter from Ethel to Bill Lynch dated July 25, 1942 from Amherst, and six photographs of: an unidentified woman in Sydney on July 16 1942, an unidentified woman at Murcer [sic] Lake in Sydney on July 13, 1942, an unidentified man in a parked car, a dog, two unidentified men on a ship plank over the war, three unidentified men in uniform and a dog by a Christmas tree, and three unidentified men, two in uniform and one in a suit, outside. Ethel's letter states she would try to enclose photographs of herself, so she may be the unidentified woman in the photos.

The Bill Lynch Shows business correspondence

File contains four business letters written to and from the Bill Lynch Shows from August 19, 1942 to July 16, 1947. The first is from the Bill Lynch Shows regarding a wallet lost on August 18, 1942 by Elmer Rogers and subsequently found, and is dated August 19, 1942. The second is from the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company regarding reconditioning a Caliola organ, and is dated October 6, 1942. The third is from the Annapolis County Exhibition Committee signed by Donald White regarding the Bill Lynch Shows returning from September 14-17, 1943, and is dated June 11, 1943. The fourth is from Teasdale and Foot, Limited and signed by Eric Teasdale regarding purchasing a car and multiple trucks for the Bill Lynch Shows, dated July 16, 1947.

Notes about a conversation with Ronald Power regarding The Bill Lynch Shows

File contains notes taken by Barry Edwards of a conversation with Ronald Power, member of the Army, regarding the Bill Lynch Shows. The notes list some of the rides the Lynch Shows had, and often refer to "The Bill Lynch Farm" (described as being in the early 1950s on the corner Robie and Cunard Street, Halifax). The notes are from March 26, 1985, and are 40 pages long.

It was also used as a notebook, with miscellaneous notes entered until 1976. Fonds also contains a letter to Mrs. Vernon Simpson (Olive Eliza Simpson) from Robert H. Winters, Ottawa, November 30, 1953. The letter is a reply to Mrs. Simpson's letter about changes to mail delievery in Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The file with the letter also contains an order form from Veribest Speciality Company and two copies of handwritten minutes of a Community Club meeting held on November 15, 1951.
