Fonds includes financial, legal, administrative and human resources materials dating from the local's founding in 1955, providing insight into the development of the organization's policies and procedures, and also illustrating the broader labour movement and role of unions in shaping the political and social landscape in Nova Scotia. The records provide evidence of the union's administrative and operational functions and activities, including contract negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, membership and labour advocacy, workers' training and education and strike coordination. The records were created by the local's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership and business associates. Earlier records (pre-1955) became part of the IBEW Local 1928 archive when other IBEW Locals were amalgamated with 1928.

Series consists of material regarding the Cephalopod International Advisory Council (CIAC). The CIAC was founded in 1983 and consists of nine executive members and nine alternate members. The advisory council was designed to ensure a progressive evolution of membership to reflect trends in living cephalopod research. Collection is comprised of materials collected by Don Murchy as part of his involvement with the TightRope Leather Brotherhood, a men's leather and denim club that operated in Nova Scotia from the early 1990s to 2007. Materials document TightRope operations, as well as the involvement of TightRope members in Mr. Atlantic Canada [M.A.C.] Leather contests and Halifax Fetish Ball events. Materials in this collection include administrative records, by-laws and guiding documents, membership lists, posters and other promotional materials, and photographs.
Series contains materials collected as part of Stewart's LGBT advocacy at St John's United Church in Halifax, and his subsequent involvement with Affirm United, an advocacy organization founded in 1982 that supports LGBTQ members of the United Church of Canada. Stewart was involved in the process of achieving Affirmed status for St John's United Church through the Affirming Ministries Program. Series contains articles, essays, and pamphlets regarding homosexuality and religion; informational documents associated with Affirm United and the Affirmation Congregation Program; manuals and other reference materials relating to the operation of Affirmed congregations; correspondence; issues of Consensus, the Affirm United newsletter; and issues of Open Hands, a journal published by Affirmations: United Methodists for Lesbian/Gay Concerns.

Subseries contains correspondence, research data, and conference minutes and notes related to the Census of Marine Life affiliate program, the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS). The Ocean Biogeographic Information System project, compiled alongside the Census of Marine Life, serves as the world's largest online repository of spatially referenced marine life data, containing millions of records created from hundreds of CoML datasets. The project, led by American scientists Edward Vanden Berghe and J. Frederick Grassle (previously by New Zealander Mark J. Costello), locates all oceanic species in a permanent, evolving repository, identifying oceanic points of high diversity, tracking species dispersion, and integrating species locales with variables such as temperature, salinity, and depth.
