Fonds consists of records regarding imX’s corporate operations, productions, and other projects between 1985 and 2008. Corporate operations include imX Communications and its subsidiary companies: ImageX, Helix Animation, and North/Northeast Ventures. Film productions include theatrical full-length or short films, including documentaries. Television productions include made-for-television movies and documentaries, stand-alone productions, and series. Animated productions include feature length, television series, and shorts.

This fonds comprises ninety-four series which are arranged alphabetically by the name of the corporate entity, production, and project. Textual files contain a wide range of documents including scripts, call sheets and daily production reports, funding applications, cast and crew employment contracts, notes on location scouting, co-production agreements, marketing plans, budgets, music cue sheets, insurance coverage, and correspondence. Electronic mail (4.57 GB) downloaded from the e-mail server at imX corporate headquarters in Halifax contains 32,134 individual messages in 1,054 folders covering all aspects of corporate operations and business transactions. There are also 23,368 electronic files (15.6GB) that support the activities of imX, imageX, and Helix Animation documents in use between 1990 and 2008. Together with the text files, they represent a complete record of the activities of imX Communications and its affiliates.

Most corporate records have been retained in order to provide a full picture of what it is like to run a film production company in Nova Scotia. In addition, the records for three feature film productions, The Divine Ryans, Margaret’s Museum, and Love and Death on Long Island, have also been fully retained. 134 linear feet of textual material was not retained.

File contains twenty-six railway passes from 1942 and 1943 documenting travel for members of the Bill Lynch Shows. Destinations and departure points include Halifax, Saint John, Toronto, Bridgewater, Yarmouth, Lawrencetown, Newcastle, Moncton, New Glasgow, and Sydney. All the tickets are first class, except for the three in 1951, which are coach. There are three tickets each for: July 25, 1943, September 4, 1943, September 25, 1943, October 4, 1943, and September 17, 1951. There are two tickets for August 12, 1943. There is one ticket each for September 8, 1942, and September 16, 1943.

Letter from Ethel to Bill Lynch and other material

File contains an envelope address to The Bill Lynch Shows from Ethel (no last name specified) dated in Amherst November 18, 1942, and Halifax November 20-30, a blank labor service card with notes on the back, a card requesting name and address on the front of letters and parcels, a letter from Ethel to Bill Lynch dated July 25, 1942 from Amherst, and six photographs of: an unidentified woman in Sydney on July 16 1942, an unidentified woman at Murcer [sic] Lake in Sydney on July 13, 1942, an unidentified man in a parked car, a dog, two unidentified men on a ship plank over the war, three unidentified men in uniform and a dog by a Christmas tree, and three unidentified men, two in uniform and one in a suit, outside. Ethel's letter states she would try to enclose photographs of herself, so she may be the unidentified woman in the photos.

Fonds consists of records pertaining to the administrative, operational, financial, and artistic activities of the ASO. Included are materials documenting the Board of Directors, box office operations (including ticket sales), financial affairs, fundraising, general administration, guest artists, orchestra members, public relations and publicity, and the union. Also included is the photograph series which presents a visual record of various aspects of the orchestra's activities, including performances and women's auxiliary events as well as publicity shots of musicians, conductors, staff, and guest artists.
