Resource and reference material

While MOVE was active, the organization served as a reference and resource library which contained publications by activist groups across Canada, as well as the publications from MOVE's coalition member groups, which this series contains. In addition, the resource and reference material contains articles, instructional material (such as funding kits), bills and ordinances, newspaper clippings on current issues and MOVE, and informational material on pressing concerns such as environment, civil rights, women's' rights, poverty, housing, rent control, and nuclear energy.

Series consists of information concerning the origins of the HVD, newspaper articles (including job advertisements and staff pictures), and press releases.

Pharmacy associations

Series consists of meeting minutes, notes, correspondence, and newsletters from various professional pharmaceutical associations and societies.

Retail pharmacies

Series consists of information relating to retail pharmacies throughout Canada, although most of the information is about Nova Scotian retail pharmacies. Records include biographical materials, financial records, advertisements, and other materials related to retail pharmacies.

Annual and monthly reports

Series consists of annual and monthly reports of the Halifax Visiting Dispensary. The reports contain minutes of the annual meetings, directors' and secretaries' reports, reports of the medical board, dental reports, data about prescriptions filled, year-end financial statements, and lists of the dispensary officers. The series also includes an agenda created for the 1964 annual meeting, the directors and summarized reports for 1960 year-end, and the secretary's and summarized report for 1961 year-end.

Parliamentary papers

Balcom represented Halifax on Parliament Hill from 1950 until 1957. This series contains his records pertaining to his work in government including the speeches made in parliament, and questions raised in the House.

Oland family scrapbooks

Series includes scrapbooks created by unknown individuals and consist primarily of newspaper clippings regarding Sidney Oland and his sons Victor, Bruce, and Don. The scrapbooks were often compiled through the use of a professional scrap-booking service.

Lobster fishermens' safety study

Series consists of records related to Binkley's study on Lobster fishermen's safety. Records include a job description for a research assistant and notes on safety in the field.

Red cap snow shoe club

In 1874 the Red Cap Snowshoe club was founded in Halifax, making it the oldest local sports organization. Balcom was an active member until the club was disbanded in 1974 after its centenary.

World War II

Literary topics, travel, speaking engagements, World War I, World War II, general military topics, the Mersey Paper Company, and Liverpool and Queens County history are all represented here.
