The Archives of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia consists of records created by the administration, members, and affiliates of the Federation. It includes a wide variety of materials including administrative records, audio/visual material, correspondence, financial records, meeting agendas and minutes for a variety of groups and committees, photographs, promotional and press material. The records refer to the adminstration and functions of the Federation, as well as its relationships with its members, government departments, and other writing, publishing and cultural groups.
Materials are mainly in English, with a small number in French. See individual Series descriptions for detailed scope and content notes.

Includes pamphlets; meeting minutes; financial records; event logo and posters; contest ephemera; organization bylaws; photographs, newspaper clippings; pins; and one mixed music compact disc (CD) played at a MACLeather event.
Collection is comprised of materials collected by Don Murchy as part of his involvement with the TightRope Leather Brotherhood, a men's leather and denim club that operated in Nova Scotia from the early 1990s to 2007. Materials document TightRope operations, as well as the involvement of TightRope members in Mr. Atlantic Canada [M.A.C.] Leather contests and Halifax Fetish Ball events. Materials in this collection include administrative records, by-laws and guiding documents, membership lists, posters and other promotional materials, and photographs.
Fonds includes financial, legal, administrative and human resources materials dating from the local's founding in 1955, providing insight into the development of the organization's policies and procedures, and also illustrating the broader labour movement and role of unions in shaping the political and social landscape in Nova Scotia. The records provide evidence of the union's administrative and operational functions and activities, including contract negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, membership and labour advocacy, workers' training and education and strike coordination. The records were created by the local's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership and business associates. Earlier records (pre-1955) became part of the IBEW Local 1928 archive when other IBEW Locals were amalgamated with 1928.

Fonds contains records documenting Ross Boutilier's legal challenges over same-sex benefits and equal treatment in Nova Scotia and provincial and federal legislation to gain access to same-sex marriage. Other series include production and administrative records of Wayves magazine, committee records of Halifax Pride, and newspaper clippings about the LGBTQ community in Nova Scotia and elsewhere in Canada.
Fonds contains materials collected by LGBTQ+ activist Bob Fougere pertaining to his activism in Halifax. Records in fonds document Fougere's work as coordinator of the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project [NSRAP], including NSRAP's participation in the Halifax Rainbow Health Project and its health care advocacy work on behalf of transgender Nova Scotians. Materials also document Fougere's roles as board member at Safe Harbour Metropolitan Community Church, and facilitator the Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Youth Project support group. Materials in fonds include correspondence, pamphlets, essays, studies, clippings, reports, meeting minutes, conference materials, and ephemera.
Fonds contains records that document the activities of the Halcon/Hal-Con Science Fiction Society, primarily Halcon festivals presented in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Materials include correspondence, meeting minutes, membership lists, posters, newsletters, program books, membership cards, and press clippings. Fonds includes materials on Halcon 2 (held in 1979), Halcon 3 (held in 1980), and Halcon 4 (held in 1981). Fonds also includes materials from Hal-Con 2015, Hal-Con 2016, and Hal-Con 2017.
Fonds consists of records created for and as a result of the performance activities of the Halifax Camerata Singers. Records include posters and programs from concerts\ and administrative and financial records from the Board of Directors of the not-for-profit society.
Fonds contains records of the Dalhousie Faculty Association, including administrative correspondence from the DFA's formative years and records documenting the negotiation of their first contract in 1978. There is also an incomplete series of DFA newsletters and committee records.
Fonds consists of documents created and collected by Eyelevel Gallery that reflect all aspects of the gallery’s management. The fonds includes artist files, slides, administrative files, publicity files (including press releases), correspondence, publications, financial documents, contracts, minutes of board of directors meetings, photographs, fundraising files and membership lists, audio and videocassettes, CDs, DVDs, books, and programmes, catalogues, posters, reviews, guest books, and miscellaneous files regarding exhibitions and events. Some digital records in this collection have been migrated from CD's.
Fonds consists of administrative and departmental documents pertaining to the University libraries, including records created and collected by Dalhousie prior to the existence of a university library. Records dating prior to the existence of the Killam Library are maintained in a series called Dalhousie College and University Library Early Records.
