Series consists of documents accumulated by the administration of the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA). The majority of materials are minutes, memorandums, correspondence, and reports created by, or related to, several committees within the IPA. These committees were designed to develop policies, facilitate decision-making, manage projects, and maintain positive relationships with Dalhousie University administration. Series also contains several news and press releases issued by the IPA to generate publicity for important events hosted by the Institute or achievements of its staff. Accession includes the minute book from the founding year of 1942 until 1955, collective agreements between the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers' International Union and S. Cunard & Co. Ltd, E.S.F. Ltd, and Archibald Fuels Ltd. Also included in this fonds are photographs of picket lines, and floats, as well as local publications issued by the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers' International Union Local 9-825 to all of its current members. The fonds also includes sample meeting posters for the union meetings, a membership request slip for Local 546, and a document from the Hon. Clarence Llyod Gosse to John Yates regarding his membership to the Provincial Apprenticeship Board.

Series contains materials collected as part of Stewart's LGBT advocacy at St John's United Church in Halifax, and his subsequent involvement with Affirm United, an advocacy organization founded in 1982 that supports LGBTQ members of the United Church of Canada. Stewart was involved in the process of achieving Affirmed status for St John's United Church through the Affirming Ministries Program. Series contains articles, essays, and pamphlets regarding homosexuality and religion; informational documents associated with Affirm United and the Affirmation Congregation Program; manuals and other reference materials relating to the operation of Affirmed congregations; correspondence; issues of Consensus, the Affirm United newsletter; and issues of Open Hands, a journal published by Affirmations: United Methodists for Lesbian/Gay Concerns.

Item is a videocassette of a lecture by Dr. Emil Frei, who spoke as part of the Dalhousie Medical School's Friday at Four series. Friday at Four was a lecture series sponsored and organized by the School that focused on a variety of subjects by lecturers invited to speak about specialized areas of medicine. The lectures were held each Friday by the School from the 1970s to the 1990s. The tape was requested by Dr. Clark from the Division of Continuing Medical Education.
