United States Department of Commerce New Steel Rail Except Light Rail

Subseries contains records created and collected by Gil Winham during his membership on dispute settlement panels under the Free Trade Agreement. The bulk of the records are related to a countervailing duty case launched by the US Department of Commerce against alleged subsidies given by the Canadian and Nova Scotia governments to Sysco Steel Corps. Records include questionnaires sent by the Department of Commerce to the Canadian governments and industry to gather information in connection with this case, which led the US to impose an additional duty of 113% on steel rails coming from Sysco.

Unnumbered tapes

There were additional tapes in the Joan Cummings fonds which were not numbered, but were for the most part labelled. The few tapes that were not labelled were listened to and a label was put on the tape.

User services

Subseries comprises records created and maintained by the University Libraries user services department, including correspondence, meeting minutes and reports.

Vessel operations

Subseries consists of all operational records created and collected by the Association relating to vessel and fisheries issues, including safety regulations, navigational aids, surveillance of foreign vessels, and subsidies and grants for constructing vessels. Types of records include correspondence, notes, discussion papers, photographs, proposals, trip reports, meeting minutes, and submissions by the Association to the Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc.
