Item is a videocassette of a guest lecture by Janis Kief, a social worker with seniors in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He discusses the inverse relationship between the availability of therapy and those who most need it getting service. The video was created for use in the Dalhousie Medical School curriculum. The video was requested by Dr. Ruderman from the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology.

Recent legislation in reference to the public health and sanitoria / A.P. Reid : [facsimile]

Item consists of a facsimile of an article submitted by A.P. Reid to the November 1900 issue of Maritime Medical News (Vol. XII, No. 11; the "Original Communications" section), titled "Recent Legislation in Reference to the Public Health and Sanatoria". The article was also read before a meeting of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia, held in Amherst on July 6th, 1900.

Public Health Clinic

Subseries comprises records created or collected by the Office of the Architect and Facilities Management at Dalhousie University related to the design and construction of the Public Health Clinic, variously called the Public Health Centre and the Dalhousie Medical Clinic. The building was designed by Halifax architect Andrew Randall Cobb, built between 1922 and 1924. and renamed the Clinical Research Centre ca. 1967.

File contains a set of construction drawings by Andrew R. Cobb for Dalhousie's Public Health Centre. Labelled Job No. K144, Sheet Nos. 1-12, the drawings include a footings and drainage plan; floor plans; roof plan; wiring plans; and elevations. There is also a front elevation titled "Dalhousie Medical Clinic -- Completed Scheme."

HARRY GOUDGE GRANT, M.D., C.M., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.,
Dr. Harry Goudge Grant was born in Halifax on June 25, 1889. After preparatory schooling in that city, he entered Dalhousie University, graduating M.D., C.M., in 1912. Post-graduate study prior to settling in Halifax in 1920. A keen interest in Public Health, with which he keeps in touch as Professor of Preventive Medicine, took him to Virginia in 1925. There he remained in charge of County Health work until appoint to his present post in 1932. Dr. rant is currently President of the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges. Died 1954.
Secretary of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia 1933-1954.

File is a photograph of the Outpatient and Public Health Clinic built in 1922-1924 and run by the Faculty of Medicine. The building is still in use as of 2017 and known as Dalhousie's Clinical Research Centre. It is the location of administrative and academic departments of the Dalhousie Medical School, including the Division of Medical Education, Finance and Administration, Postgraduate Medical Education, and the departments of Bioethics and Community Health and Epidemiology.
