Dinner is an experimental documentary using a universal family event as its focus.Framed in snap-shot style, the video seems to arbitrarily “crop off” the participants, saving anonymity. This tape allows the viewer to concentrate on details of inpromptu etiquette and casual conversation around the dinner table, until, in the end, as with any family event, the camera is brought out to take pictures. On the cue “okay, smile!” the photographs taken are tossed one by one into the video frame, revealing at last the dinner participants in fuzzy Polaroids.
