Sperry residence real estate appraisals

File contains real estate valuation reports on the Sperry property from 1992, 2003, 2005 and 2015. There is also a four-page narrative recounting the initial build and subsequent renovations of the house.

The 1949 drawings, produced by Leslie Fairn and C. Gustave Brault, include plot plans; footings; floor plans; interior room and finish schedules; sections and details; and plumbing, heating and electrical plans. The 1964 and 1979 drawings are for additions and extensions, and were produced by Duffus, Romans, Kundzins and Rounsefell Ltd. The file also includes a set of drawings printed at reduced scale for a submission by Lydon Lynch issued September 2002 for a National Research Council New Industry Partnership Facility Institute for Marine Biosciences.

Student Union Building addition construction drawings

File contains a construction package set of drawings for a 2002 addition to the original Student Union Building at Dalhousie University. The drawings were produced by Fowler Bauld and Mitchell, Campbell Comeau Engineering and Morris & Richard Consulting Engineers. The file includes a listing of set ID numbers and notes from Facilities Management.

Box contains prints, slides, negatives, and proof sheets of photographs of Dalplex construction; Dalplex roof; aerial photographs of Studley Campus; signage on Studley Campus; the Life Sciences Centre; the Forrest Building; houses on Henry Street; and other buildings. Box also contains an entry for the 1980 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards by R.L. Booth of Carruthers & Wallace Limited and a presentation about stainless steel meniscus roofs. The photographs are stored in binders.

Renovations and extensions to 6152 Coburg Road

File contains copies of drawings for 6152 Coburg Road, including 1967-68 plans for renovations and extensions to the building when it served as the Nova Scotia College of Art, and 1980 renovation plans when the building was occupied by Dalhousie University School of Management. All three sets of drawings were produced by C.A. Fowler Bauld & Mitchell Ltd. File also contains a list of set ID arrangement details.

Massey medals 1970

File consists of records relating to the exhibition 'Massey Medals for Architecture 1970', organized and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibition was presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery from November 1-30, 1971.

Records consist of a condition report, exhibition agreement contract, descriptive exhibition text and packing lists, correspondence with the National Gallery, handwritten notes, and a press release from the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC) regarding the finalists and winning entries for the Massey Medals Awards Competition.

Fenwick Place mechanical plans

File contains drawings by Dumaresq & Byrne Limited and D. J. Morris Engineering for Fenwick Place, including: area lighting plot plan; TV antenna, intercom and telephone system risers; electrical distribution schemes; and owner distribution system risers and details.

Heating plans for the Sword and Anchor Inn and Sheet Anchor

File contains two drawings of heating plans for inns in Chester, Nova Scotia. One drawing is for the Sword and Anchor Inn and the other is for the Sheet Anchor Inn. The drawings were produced by Emco Supply from Halifax, Nova Scotia. See MS-4-136, Box 98, Folder 9 for related records.

Working drawings of central display unit and book display case for the proposed Kipling Room in the Killam Library

File contains 2 pages of blackline prints of working designs for a display unit and book cases for the planned Kipling Room in the Killam Library. The drawings include elevations and section details, are stamped "preliminary," numbered S-8 and S-8, and dated 31 March 1969. The Kipling Room ended up remaining in the O.E. Smith wing of the Macdonald Library; it is possible that these furniture plans were used instead for the Morse Room, which was located behind the MacMechan Auditorium.

Architectural plans for the Killam Library

File comprises a set of architectural plans for the Killam Library, undated and labelled 4B REV. Drawings include a site plan, south elevation, and complete set of floor plans. The basement and main floor plans indicate the square footage of each working area (e.g., mechanical, circulation, administration).

Photographs of the Killam Memorial Library construction

File contains photographs of the construction of the Killam Memorial Library at Dalhousie University in 1968 and 1969. The photographs show the construction site from different perspectives at different stages in the construction. Many of the photographs are stamped with "Fraser-Brace Maritimes Limited," the name of a construction company. The photographs were taken by Maurice Crosby Photography Ltd. and Wamboldt-Waterfield Photography Limited.

Fabric, wallpaper, carpet and other textile swatches are adhered to the presentation board.

Annotations with dates include revisions based on requests by librarians.
