Entries include pencil drawings of animals and plants, newspaper clippings, pictures of Nova Scotia Agricultural College buildings, animal breeds, and events on campus as well as agricultural events around Nova Scotia from the NS Dept. of Agriculture annual reports.

Fonds also contains the policies of Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing in 1996 and correspondence from department staff from 1907 and 1972.

The Atlantic Canada co-operatives collection consists of approximately 15 meters of published and unpublished materials. This includes books, serials, brochures, loose papers, photographs and slides, maps, audio and visual material, and artifacts.

The fonds contains information about many individual co-operatives and credit unions, as well as documents from larger region-wide co-operative organizations. There is also a large section of general co-operative literature about co-operation as a social movement, in Canada and around the world.

The age of the materials ranges from the early 1900s up to 2002. The majority spans from the 1950s to the 1990s.

The map is featured in C.W. Vernon's book Bicentenary Sketches and Early Days of The Church in Nova Scotia, Chronicle Printing Company, Halifax, 1910.

Materials reflect agricultural and rural traditions from the areas they were collected in. The artifacts were collected from and photographs taken in Kenya, The Gambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, The Sudani, New Guinea, Angola, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Czechoslovakia, Melanesia, Columbia, The Caribbean, and Jamaica.

Other material consists of records that were created while Dr. Cumming served as the first principal at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College from 1905-27. He was also an instructor animal husbandry, agronomy, bacteriology and public speaking, and also served as the Secretary of Agriculture for the province from 1907-25. This fonds includes photographs, certificates, and articles and speeches from the passing of Dr. Cumming.

Fonds includes items dealing with the invention of and patenting of a hydraulic gold extractor first registered in 1887. Also involves setting up a company to use the machine and begin gold mining. The material covers a period of 1883 to 1905, and involves many individuals in the business and legal community of Halifax and the South Shore. It also includes the original patent with the specification and diagrams, other diagrams, a 31 page hand written report by Westhaver on his trip to Dawson City, Yukon in 1902 to test his separator. A very interesting collection of letters, documents, legal correspondence, governmental material, etc., etc., dealing with the starting of a company to use the gold separate and Westhaver's various difficulties with financing and control.

The administration of technical education courses in communities throughout Nova Scotia, 1907-1947, is minutely detailed in the records of the Director of Technical Education, as well as through the series of beautiful glass plate negatives of Technical Education classes.

The Public Relations office created files, photographs, sound and video recordings of events, faculty, staff and students of TUNS.

A selection of student records is available in the series of records from the Registrar’s Office; however access is restricted to protect privacy.

The development of the TUNS campus is well documented through construction photographs, aerial photographs, historical overviews, and files on land acquisition and renovations to historic buildings.
