Series consists of meeting minutes, notes, correspondence, and newsletters from various professional pharmaceutical associations and societies.

Retail pharmacies

Series consists of information relating to retail pharmacies throughout Canada, although most of the information is about Nova Scotian retail pharmacies. Records include biographical materials, financial records, advertisements, and other materials related to retail pharmacies.

Annual and monthly reports

Series consists of annual and monthly reports of the Halifax Visiting Dispensary. The reports contain minutes of the annual meetings, directors' and secretaries' reports, reports of the medical board, dental reports, data about prescriptions filled, year-end financial statements, and lists of the dispensary officers. The series also includes an agenda created for the 1964 annual meeting, the directors and summarized reports for 1960 year-end, and the secretary's and summarized report for 1961 year-end.

Parliamentary papers

Balcom represented Halifax on Parliament Hill from 1950 until 1957. This series contains his records pertaining to his work in government including the speeches made in parliament, and questions raised in the House.

Oland family scrapbooks

Series includes scrapbooks created by unknown individuals and consist primarily of newspaper clippings regarding Sidney Oland and his sons Victor, Bruce, and Don. The scrapbooks were often compiled through the use of a professional scrap-booking service.

Lobster fishermens' safety study

Series consists of records related to Binkley's study on Lobster fishermen's safety. Records include a job description for a research assistant and notes on safety in the field.

Red cap snow shoe club

In 1874 the Red Cap Snowshoe club was founded in Halifax, making it the oldest local sports organization. Balcom was an active member until the club was disbanded in 1974 after its centenary.

Memorabilia of Thomas Head Raddall

This series contains souvenirs, clippings, invitations, programs, certificates, correspondence and other printed materials pertaining to a variety of THR's interests, including his father's military career. Literary topics, travel, speaking engagements, World War I, World War II, general military topics, the Mersey Paper Company, and Liverpool and Queens County history are all represented here.

Manuscripts and publications

Series consists of articles, addresses, and publications created and/or accumulated by GWI Creighton. Materials in this series primarily relate to forestry but some works pertain to family history. Series arranged alphabetically by title. Series contains some materials in German.

Unpublished writings : memoirs and autobiography

The memoir material consists of thirty-three essays, ranging in length from two to twenty-two pages; these are about people, places, and trips taken. The autobiographical material consists of a 552-page typescript "autobiography" which contains notes about his family history and typed excerpts from his diaries.

Marine Protests of Steam Ships

All marine protests in this series pertain to steam ships (ships which operate under a steam engine and not under sail), including barges. Some typed protests are the only copy for which there are no corresponding handwritten originals.

Dalhousie University Faculty of Law

This series contains material reflective of the Dalhousie Law Faculty during Read’s early years as a professor of law and as Dean. The series contains correspondence, historic material on Dalhousie Law School, and activities by Horace Read as Dean.

Military Services

This series contains photos, medals, awards, and memorabilia of Horace Read during the First and Second World War. This series also contains correspondence between Mrs. Read and the Army Museum Halifax Citadel.

Correspondence of Will R. Bird

This series contains correspondence collected by Bird. Correspondents include fans and contemporaries. Repeat correspondents include Clarke, Irwin and Co., the MacMillan Group publishing company, McGraw-Hill, University of Toronto Press, the Cumberland Publishing Company, and the Banff School of the Arts. Bird's natural order of organizing this correspondence (incoming and copies of outgoing mail stapled together) has been preserved. See also the Scrapbook Series for further correspondence.

Literary Writings of Frank Parker Day

This series contains manuscripts for all autobiographical writings, essays, novels, plays, poetry, and short stories present in the Frank Parker Day fonds. Most works are not individually dated, so the materials have been group into the following categories: Biographical and autobiographical writings, novels (published and unpublished), plays, poetry, and stories.

Speeches and Essays of Frank Parker Day

Series contains a variety of speeches and essays, ordered completely chronologically, that Day gave during his career. Many of these are related to his academic career, particularly on literary subjects and war. Many were given during his time as President of Union College when he was a much sought-after speaker.

Frank Parker Day photographs

Series contains photographs that span the greater portion of Day's life. Materials include photographs depicting his time in university, his time served during World War One, and his time as President of Union College. Series also contains many photographs of the Day family and their friends.

Correspondence of Guy Henson

This series consists of Guy Henson's general correspondence. Correspondents range from Henson's brother, R.C.C. Henson, to UNESCO to universities, friends and colleagues. Topics covered include letters of introduction, graduate school applications, and employment concerns.

Forewords of Guy Henson

Series consists of forewords Guy Henson wrote for various publications. Forewords for the Institute of Public Affairs publications (1957-1976) predominate. There are also Henson's introductions to the Senate Special Committee Report on Poverty (1969), and the Africville Relocation Report (1971).

Family Estate Documents

Series contains copies of the Last Will and Testament of multiple ancestors of Norman Creighton, as well as correspondence between various family members with regards to the settlement of estates, division of property and funds, and other concerns. Included are personal papers (particularly correspondence) of numerous family members. There is also a significant amount of material under the William Almon Hendry subheading which includes deeds, mortgage contracts, blueprints, and other business dealings.

City planning and development

This series consists of records relating to various city developments and planning projects in cities across Canada, including the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfront revitalization, the Barrington Street alignment and development of Uniacke Square and similar development projects in the City of Halifax at the time. Types of records include notes, meeting minutes, printed material, correspondence and development plans.

Education

This series consists of records relating to education reform across Canada, with a focus on Nova Scotia’s school system. Types of records include reports, academic papers, notes, submissions, printed material, correspondence and interview transcripts.

The Gillans

Series consists of materials related to Norman Creighton's CBC radio program "The Gillans" which aired from 1942 to 1949, including original and revised scripts; subject and episode indexes to scripts; plotting, drama, and character notes; as well as a promotional image of cast members. Indexes are only available for scripts dating from 1942 to 1946. The original scripts are carbon copies and require careful handling, many of the early ones are also spotted and appear to have some water damage. Most scripts are numbered in sequence and arranged in this order. Emergency scripts were often used when one or more characters were unable to perform. Although filed in sequence, the use of emergency scripts often resulted in misnumbering of episodes. Series includes the following subseries: 1. Scripts 2. Indexes 3. Plotting sheets and notes.

Correspondence of Norman Creighton

This series contains the majority of Norman Creighton's correspondence, all of which is arranged alphabetically by correspondent; the exception is the CBC subseries, which is arranged chronologically. Some correspondence relating to topics covered in Creighton's writing can be found in the research and subject files. The correspondence spans a period of 82 years and includes both incoming and outgoing letters, as well as postcards and greeting cards. Creighton's correspondents were wide-ranging and include family, friends, fellow writers, fans, publishers, and his long-time employer - the CBC. Creighton also corresponded with numerous government departments, libraries, archives, and historical societies to research topics for his magazine articles and radio scripts. Creighton frequently corresponded with his older brother Alan Creighton, local writer Kay Hill, CBC colleague Marjory Whitelaw, and American literary critic Thomas H. Uzzell. At the CBC he often communicated with Ralph Marven, Norval Balch, Harry J. Boyle, and Edgar Bennett. The Maclean's file in the publishers correspondence subseries contains letters from editor Pierre Berton (personal letters from Berton after he left Maclean's are filed separately under his name). In addition to Berton, Creighton corresponded with the following notable individuals: his cousin, folklorist Helen Creighton; Donald Curren, the Executive Director of the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Nova Scotia Division) and member of the Order of Canada; Nova Scotia writers Hugh McClennan, Ernest Buckler, Thomas H. Raddall. These files, however, tend to contain fewer letters over a short period of time.

University of King's College

Series consists of records created by the University of King’s College or by Godfrey while he was President and Vice-Chancellor of the College. Types of records include meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, notes, and a video profile of Dr. John Godfrey.

Records acquired during Robert Logan's imprisonment in POW camps

Series contains records created or collected by Logan during his time in German prisoner of war camps during World War I. Robert Logan was held in the following camps: Karlsruhe (April 8, 1917); Heidelberg; Krefeld; Schwalmstadt (Ziegenhain prison); Holtzminden (Offizier Gefangenenlager); Schweidnitz (December 25, 1918). Records include notebooks, photographs, and pamphlets and other materials distributed to prisoners.
