File contains photographs of a chicken barbeque event on the Nova Scotia Agricultural College Campus. The first such event was held on July 2, 1951, followed by barbeques in 1952. 1953 and 1954 with 3000 to 5000 people in attendance. The barbeques were sponsored by the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing and the Nova Scotia Farmers' Association to promote the newly expanding broiler chicken industry.

File contains 7 photographs of C.A. Douglas' retirement. They are all stamped "Photo by Pridham Studio, Truro, N.S.". Charles Douglas was Deputy Minister of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing. Douglas also served as Assistant Agricultural Representative in Pictou, Agricultural Representative in Hants County, Assistant Director and, later, Director of Extension, and as Director of Livestock. Item is a Nova Scotia Agricultural College winged patch. In the center of the patch it has the numbers '40', and the letter 'A' below. The NSAC badge belonged to Mr. Francis W. Lawrence, of Falmouth, NS. After graduating from NSAC in 1940, Francis went to war with the air force. He did not return. He had the rank of F/O - Flyer Officer, his trade was W/AG - Wireless Operator / Air Gunner. He was with the 162 SQDN RCAF. Mr. Lawrence was 25 years old and passed 6/13/1944.

Item is a Nova Scotia Agricultural College button down cardigan. The cardigan sweater is dark blue wool with gold stripes, and has two pockets on the front. The cardigan was made by the Scott Knitting Co. LTD Toronto, All wool trademark. The sweater belonged to Francis W. Lawrence of Falmouth, NS. After graduating from NSAC in 1940, Francis went to war with the air force. He did not return. He had the rank of F/O - Flyer Officer, his trade was W/AG - Wireless Operator / Air Gunner. Item is a Nova Scotia Agricultural College beanie hat made of blue and gold coloured felt. It has the letters “AC” adhered to it, and a ram head stitched on it. Tradition for decades was they were given to first year students (“frosh”) upon arrival at the NSAC for "Frosh", or orientation week and worn by freshman all week.

File contains two scrapbooks, or memory books, created to reflect the activities of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association from 1952 to 1984. The auxiliary dismantled in the mid 1980s; former member Joan MacAulay created these scrap books in May of 2014 to acknowledge the work and friendship auxiliary members had.

Fonds contains Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs history updates from 1954 to 2014, and a NSAGC handbook. Also included are job advertisements,n organizational chart for the Horticulture and Biology Services Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing, and 'Cultivating garden friends : history of gardening in Nova Scotia 1850-2000' by Barbara Morton published by the Nova Scotia Association of Gardening Clubs.

The Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs became an entity in 1954 as the result of the work of the Rural Beautification Project Committee. In 1944, the Rural Beautification Committee was appointed by the Honorable John A. MacDonald, minister of Agriculture, to come up with a plan for rural beautification projects. Mr. Nick Jankov, a Landscape Specialist, began working with the Agricultural Representatives, Women’s Institutes, Home and School Associations and Service Clubs, to begin formulating a long term plan for Rural Beautification around the province.

The Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs (NSAGC) is made up of garden clubs and horticultural societies from all areas of Nova Scotia. The NSAGC is the coordinating body for organized gardening groups in the province and is guided by an elected board of directors, whose members come from the different districts of Nova Scotia. The district representative, also known as the district director, serves as the link between the individual clubs and the NSAGC board.

The main objective of the NSAGC is to promote the general landscape beautification of the Province of Nova Scotia, by promoting community beautification and encouraging the formation of horticultural groups (garden clubs) which will procure interest in all phases of home gardening and ornamental horticulture in their areas.

McKay (dairying) who graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1914. McKay. Depicted is Barley from a part of a field to which Malagash [Nova Scotia] potash land salt was applied and from a part of the same field with the same treatment except no Malagash potash land salt was applied.
