The willows are new (after Wang Wei's Yang Kuan) : piano solo

Item is a photostat copy of Chou Wen-Chung's composition, based on "Yang Kuan," a composition for ch'in attributed to Wang Wei (689-759). The work for solo piano was sent to Ellen Ballon by the New York publishers, C.F. Peters, with an accompanying letter that indicated that the composition was undergoing publication.

Item is an early draft manuscript of a four-act dramatic play with four characters: the protagonist, Ellen Maria; her husband, an archaeologist named Jens; Ellen Maria's cousin, a theologian named Johannes; and a forester named Steffa.

Aslaug Vaa translations : [manuscripts]

File contains several handwritten drafts of translations of two poems originally written by Aslaug Vaa and translated by Nora Steenerson Smith (later Nora Leslie), fourth wife of Kenneth Leslie. There are six handwritten drafts of a translation of Duva og dropen (with minor variations and corrections), and seven drafts of a translation of the Skinnvengbrev (with minor variations and corrections).

Publicity photographs of Ellen Ballon

File contains publicity photographs of Ellen Ballon. Most are portraits, but some feature her playing the piano, participating in World War II support activities, at ceremonies, at concerts, and at receptions. Most of the photographs are undated but seem to span the entirety of her adult life. The last photograph in the album is of Ballon receiving her honorary doctorate from McGill University in 1954.

File contains the Zoology IV honours reading list for 1963 - 1964. The list is described as the basis for Hall's paper in the Kovalevsky medal issue of a journal in 2004.
