Jessie I. MacKnight : biographical and personal materials

Some of the materials in Duff's collection came from Jessie MacKnight's estate, while others were collected by Duff in preparation for writing articles about her. There was no indication of the source of the materials, so their original order has been maintained and grouped under this series.

Individuals

Series consists of research materials, correspondence, and biographical information of individuals who Gordon Duff had in his collection. Many of these records are research materials used by Duff in teaching or publication. The majority of the files listed are pharmacists or pharmacy clerks. Additional biographical materials of other pharmacists can be found in the Jessie I. MacKnight and George A. Burbidge series.

Awards

Series contains information about awards for Gordon Duff. There is information in another series about award nominations made by Duff to other pharmacists, but they were not included in this category.

Annual reports

Series contains annual reports issued by the Welfare Council (Halifax-Dartmouth area) and its predecessors, the Welfare Council of Halifax and the Halifax Council of Social Agencies. The reports outline the activities of the council and its various committees and divisions. Some files also contain agendas for annual general meetings.

Activities

This series consists of records relating to different activities the committee had been involved in, including abortion debates, day care, education, pay equity, occupational health and safety, and unemployment.

Dartmouth public transit

Series contains material related to the issues pertinent to Dartmouth public transportation. Much of the content in this series is reference material in support of implementing public transportation based on how other cities in Canada used it. In addition, this series contains material on MOVE's involvement in bringing awareness of the need of a public transit system in Dartmouth to the public.

Resource and reference material

While MOVE was active, the organization served as a reference and resource library which contained publications by activist groups across Canada, as well as the publications from MOVE's coalition member groups, which this series contains. In addition, the resource and reference material contains articles, instructional material (such as funding kits), bills and ordinances, newspaper clippings on current issues and MOVE, and informational material on pressing concerns such as environment, civil rights, women's' rights, poverty, housing, rent control, and nuclear energy.

Deries contains material of all the internal committees of MOVE including:

The material includes reports, minutes, correspondence, research material, workbooks, and press releases.

Operations

Series contains records that document the efforts to establish MOVE and promote and work on the organization's mission.This series also features the internal operations of MOVE and their participation with the Local Employment Assistant Program (LEAP) and Transferring Participatory Resources (TPR) project; as well as conferences, seminars, and workshops that MOVE conducted and/or participated in.

Audiovisual library

This series consists of audio and video cassettes from the Ecology Action Centre's resource library. Material contains documentaries, interviews, and informational videos regarding environmental issues and similar topics.

Committees

Series consists of eight sub-series, arranged alphabetically by title: agriculture (ecological), communications resources, energy, forestry, fundraising, recycling, urban, and uranium. Within each sub-series, files are arranged by subject.
