Fonds consists of textual records created and accumulated by various groups and organizations within the Institute of Public Affairs.. Records include articles, correspondence, minutes, memos, newspaper and magazine clippings, interviews, field notes, pamphlets and reports. Many of the documents pertain to the internal operations of the IPA.

The fonds also contains research proposals and reports related to energy, community growth, urban and rural development, labour studies, education, economic and industrial development, the medical sector and housing. There is significant work on the health, employment and economic status of African Nova Scotians.

The fonds also contains reference material kept by the IPA in its corporate library, which was used in the research and drafting of various reports.

Insulters of death and other poems of the great departure : a book of solace

File contains a book of poems, published by John Daniel Logan of the 85th Overseas Battalion, C.E.F., Nova Scotia Highland Brigade. The book was published by L. Clyde Davidson & Co. of Halifax, Nova Scotia and contains the following poems: "Invocation," "Insulters of Death," "Timor Mortis," "Sursum Corda," "Renouncement," "A Requiem," "The Greater Love," "For an only Son," "Poe of Princeton," "Flame of God (Rupert Brooke)," "The Soul's Supreme Adventure," and "Gone on Ahead Awhile." The book also includes a prose preachment entitled "The Fatal Paradox and Sin of Sorrow for the Dead."

Fonds includes financial, legal, administrative and human resources materials dating from the local's founding in 1955, providing insight into the development of the organization's policies and procedures, and also illustrating the broader labour movement and role of unions in shaping the political and social landscape in Nova Scotia. The records provide evidence of the union's administrative and operational functions and activities, including contract negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, membership and labour advocacy, workers' training and education and strike coordination. The records were created by the local's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership and business associates. Earlier records (pre-1955) became part of the IBEW Local 1928 archive when other IBEW Locals were amalgamated with 1928.

This fonds consists of records that document the administrative and operational activities of IBEW Local 625. As the union which represents inside electrical workers across mainland Nova Scotia, Local 625 engages in a variety of activities which are represented in this fonds; these include employer negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, labour advocacy, workers' training and education, strike coordination, recreational events, and membership advocacy. The records in this fonds were created by the union's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership, and business associates.
