Ken Ward and the "A Feather of Hope" campaign

File is an audio reel containing an episode of The Word is Out, a radio program broadcast on CKDU radio 88.1. This episode features Ken Ward of the Enoch reserve outside of Edmonton. Ken was diagnosed with HIV in January, and shortly after started the "A Feather of Hope" campaign educating indigenous people about AIDS. He visited Halifax to speak with other indigenous groups and to be interviewed for the video "Life After Diagnosis" (People With Aids coalition). The episode was recorded on April 29, 1990, and was broadcasted on May 1, 1990.

File contains a 24 page report prepared by the Custodial Care Study Committee, which was established by Order-in-Council No. 2014/62. The file also contains correspondence between Robert U. Doyle, Assistant Executive Director of the Welfare Council, and J.D. Campbell, Executive Director of the Alberta Hospitalization Benefits Plan. The file also contains a copy of the Alberta Nursing Home Act of 1964 and the Nursing Home Plan Regulations, both of which arose out of the report.
