Wilson Hodder photographs, correspondence, and celebration of life programs

File contains materials related to the life and passing of Wilson Hodder. Hodder was a prominent LGBT activist in Nova Scotia, who successfully petitioned for spousal survivors benefits for same-sex couples under the Canada Pension Plan following the passing of his partner, Terry Martin.

File contains 30 colour photographs taken by Hodder of the 1998 Ottawa Pride parade, three photographs of Hodder and friends, correspondence between Hodder and Mike Sangster, two copies of the program from Hodder's celebration of life, and two program inserts.

File also contains pamphlets regarding workshops and resources for people with AIDS, and correspondence to the Attorney General regarding a list of directors.

Time to deliver on AIDS in Nova Scotia materials, 2006

File contains materials produced for the Time to Deliver on AIDS in Nova Scotia workshop, held in Halifax on October 20, 2006. This workshop discussed the content of the XVI International AIDS Conference held in Toronto in August, 2006, and the conference's impact on HIV/AIDS services in Nova Scotia. Interview with Kevin Orr of the AIDS Committee of Toronto

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Kevin Orr of the AIDS Committee of Toronto while he was in Halifax for a meeting of the Canadian Public Health Association the previous year. CKDU's Ken Burke spoke with Orr about the privately managed education groups springing up across the country to inform people about AIDS. The AIDS Committee of Toronto was a model that helped form many others like it, including in Metro Halifax. The episode was recorded on January 14, 1987, and was broadcast on January 20, 1987.

Interview with Phil Shaw on Patient Zero

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Phil Shaw of the AIDS Committee of Toronto on Patient Zero (Gaetan Dugas), a Quebec man thought to be the first case of AIDS in the United States. He discusses the fear generated by the fact that Patient Zero lived in Toronto, and Dartmouth from 1977-1979, and journalist Randy Shilts' book claiming that Patient Zero was solely responsible for the spread of AIDS in North America. The interview was conducted by CKDU's Donna Mayer. The episode was recorded on October 15, 1987.
