From Dale Ells' Shaped through Service : an illustrated history of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, page 95: Captain Aubrey was a bay horse that stood 15.3 hands in height, weighed around 1200 pounds. Captain Aubrey foaled in 1904 and had an impressive racing career until 1912, then began his career as a stud horse. Charles Douglas was Deputy Minister of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing. Douglas also served as Assistant Agricultural Representative in Pictou, Agricultural Representative in Hants County, Assistant Director and, later, Director of Extension, and as Director of Livestock.
