The purpose of the workshop was to bring together individuals from faculty, instructors, technicians, administration, staff and students to improve communications across campus.

The committee was established by the principal in March 1997 with a mandate to review the College's current computer resources, assess the needs for the next three years, and make recommendations arising from its review. Computer resources were delineated as hardware, software, and personnel.
