Library for Dalhousie University : basement plan

Item is sheet no. 1 of 16 construction drawings for the Macdonald Memorial Library (now the Macdonald Building) at Dalhousie University. It is a basement plan with a 1/2" = 1'0" scale detail of first floor beams and slab and has the (approval?) signatures of G.S. Campbell, Chairman of the Board of Governors, and building contractors A.D. Falconer and D. McDonald.

Macdonald Memorial Library construction drawings

File contains construction drawings for the Macdonald Memorial Library (now the Macdonald Building) at Dalhousie University, which was designed by Halifax architect Andrew R. Cobb with consulting architect Frank Darling of Toronto. The bulk of the drawings are part of an original set of 16 sheets dated Dec. 20, 1913 that contain the approval signatures of G.S. Campbell, Chairman of the Board of Governors, and building contractors A.D. Falconer and D. McDonald. Sheets 8, 12 and 14 are missing, but are extant as blueprints in Box 1, Folder 2. File also contains a 1914 drawing showing revised window details and a sheet no. 6 from a 1920 alteration to the library. Drawing types include floor plans, elevations, sections and details.

Series contains student registration cards. The cards contain information about students registered at Dalhousie University between 1968 and the mid-1980s. Cards typically contain information about previous education, year of enrollment, age at enrollment, degree sought, subjects studied and marks received, name(s) of parent or guardian, and home address.

Technical University of Nova Scotia student files

Series consists of student records created by the Nova Scotia Technical College (NSTC) and its successor, the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS). NTSC created the majority of records between 1920 and 1978. Series also includes student records created by TUNS before the 1997 amalgamation with Dalhousie University.

Records include personal information about students, including names, courses taken, date of graduation, degree awarded, place of birth, and name of parent.

TUNS maintained these records until the 1997 amalgamation with Dalhousie University. When the universities merged, TUNS transferred the records to the Dalhousie University Registrar's Office.
