Item is lecture three of University of the Air's "Structures of Sound" series, recorded on September 8, 1979 for broadcast on CJCH-TV. The episode was presented by Dr. Walter Kemp, chairman of the Department of Music at Dalhousie University, and pianist and professor Lynn Stodola. Production staff included Linda Moore, production assistant; John Silver, technical producer; Cy True, director and producer; and Nancy Fraser, national coordinator.

Nasca lines

Subseries contains the conductor’s score, instrumental, and vocal parts used for the premiere performance of Nasca Lines by Barry Guy. Nasca Lines is a one-hour, seven-part work that was commissioned by the Upstream Ensemble and premiered in collaboration with the Symphony Nova Scotia on June 3, 2001 at the Scotia Festival with conductor and composer, Barry Guy.

The composition is named after and inspired by the geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert, Peru, which include outlines of animals and various geometric shapes. Graphical representations of a selection of these geoglyphs are used in the graphic notation of this score, particularly in parts 3 and 7.

Nasca Lines is an atonal work that uses a combination of composed material, based on tone rows and pitch class sets, and guided improvisation. There are twenty instrumental parts and one vocal part.

The prodigal son and the widow

File consists of three audio recordings containing recorded CBC radio broadcastings of the opera "The Prodigal Son" at the Guelph Spring Festival in 1968 and the opera "The Widow" at the CBC Toronto Summer Festival in 1967, and backstage interviews at the Toronto Canadian Opera Festival. Originally labelled "the widow" and handwritten notes on the label inserted in the case read:

Item is an audio recording of recorded CBC radio backstage interviews with opera singers and the stage makeup artist for the opera "Othello" at the Toronto Canadian Opera Festival at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The interviews include John Arab, who played the role of Roderigo. The original track was untitled and undated.

Autographs and photographs of musicians and actors

Series contains autographs, autograph letters, and autographed photographs. The letters were purchased by John Daniel Logan and were predominantly written by composers, including Giuseppe Verdi and Jacques Offenbach. Many of the autographs are signed on concert programs, presumably from concerts that Logan attended. The photographs are of musicians and actors, including several of the English actor Johnston Forbes-Robertson, and were sent to or obtained by Logan for his personal collection and in his capacity as a music critic and journalist.
