At the time of the interview, Mr Williams was a member of the NSAACP (Nova Scotia Association for the Advancement of Coloured People), the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers, and others. Unlike many others interviewed, Mr. Williams was not a member of the BUF (Black United Front).
