Collection contains duplicate materials from fonds in the Nova Scotia LGBT Seniors Archive. Materials in collection include posters; programs, flyers, and promotional materials; pamphlets and outreach materials; and wearable ephemera including buttons and pins, badges, medals, clothing, and other regalia. Materials in series relate to Halifax Pride and other pride celebrations, political demonstrations, Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS] operations and events, Halifax Fetish Ball and Mr. Atlantic Canada [M.A.C.] Leather events, Gay and Lesbian Association [GALA] meetings and operations, events held at Rumours bar, LGBT films, and other LGBT causes and events.

Human rights for the gay minority — a brief to the government of New Brunswick

Item is a copy of Human Rights for the Gay Minority — A Brief to the Government of New Brunswick, published May 1988. The brief was produced by the New Brunswick Coalition for Human Rights Reform to encourage legal protections for LGBTQ+ persons and was used as a reference for Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia when producing their own brief.

Series contains duplicate pamphlets and outreach materials from fonds in the Nova Scotia LGBT Seniors Archive. Materials in series include anti-discrimination pamphlets produced by Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS], and pamphlets produced by Churchmembers Assembled to Respond to AIDS [CARAS].

Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS] Jeopardy demonstration script

File contains three copies of the script for the short play Jeopardy, written and performed by members of Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS]. The play was performed at a demonstration advocating for the addition of legal protections based on sexual orientation under the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act. These changes were eventually enacted in 1991.

Flyers for Simon Nkoli event, 1989

File contains two copies of a flyer advertising events in Halifax featuring Simon Nkoli, a gay South African political activist. Events include a talk held at Rumours bar, and the preceding meet and greet held on the same date at Veith House.

Media coverage of Lesbian and Gay Right's Nova Scotia [LGRNS] activism related to the Human Rights Act

File contains four VHS tapes containing media coverage of Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS] and their work to protect sexual orientation under the Human Rights Act in Nova Scotia. Media coverage also includes LGRNS opposition to Barkhat Khokhar, a member of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission who expressed homophobic and misogynistic views. Footage from these tapes has been copied onto a DVD-R disc which is also located in this file.

Series contains pins and other apparel produced for LGBT events such as Halifax pride, or featuring pro-LGBT messages. Items in this series were collected and worn by members of Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS].
