Collection is comprised of materials collected by Don Murchy as part of his involvement with the TightRope Leather Brotherhood, a men's leather and denim club that operated in Nova Scotia from the early 1990s to 2007. Materials document TightRope operations, as well as the involvement of TightRope members in Mr. Atlantic Canada [M.A.C.] Leather contests and Halifax Fetish Ball events. Materials in this collection include administrative records, by-laws and guiding documents, membership lists, posters and other promotional materials, and photographs.

File contains one press release written by Lesbian Gay Rights Nova Scotia (LGRNS) about the visit of Simon Nkoli, a gay South African activist; two posters advertising Nkoli's speech; and a copy of an article titled "Out of South Africa" by Mark Chestnut for Out-Week 1989. Materials primarily relate to liturgical debates surrounding the sinfulness of homosexuality and pastoral care for congregants with HIV/AIDS. Materials include the complete September, 1990 issue of The United Church Observer; one complete copy of the second printing of Homosexual catholics : a new primer for discussion, published by Dignity, Inc; and excerpts from the newsletters Youth Update, The Self-Help Newsletter, and Resources for Liturgy, among other publications.

Nova Scotia house of assembly debates on Human Rights

File contains anti-discrimination pamphlets created by LGRNS, mock-ups and pamphlet drafts, and notes regarding the campaign. File also contains a handout that reads "You know discrimination is wrong" and a mail-out card to MLA's in support of adding sexual orientation to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Code.

Statement from Women's Action Coalition regarding inclusion of sexual orientation in Human Rights Code, pamphlets re. discrimination

File contains a statement from the Women's Action Coalition in support of including sexual orientation under the Nova Scotia Human Rights Code, a letter lobbying the Nova Scotia Task Force on AIDS to petition government to include sexual orientation in the Nova Scotia Human Rights Code, and notes. File also contains two brochures, one on the Canadian Bill of Rights, and the second on guidelines for investigating discrimination complaints.

File contains one cassette tape recording of performances the Halifax-based choral group The Secret Furies. Cassettes features recording of The Secret Furies performance at Truro Women's and Children's Dance on October 25, 1991. Songs performed are You Can Forbid Nearly Everything ; December 6 : Russian Learning Lullaby ; Living Flame ; Hippopotamus Song ; Look to the Women ; Women All Around the World. Cassette also features a recording of the song Burning Times from a performance at the Stepping Stone Benefit on October 30, 1991. Cassette also includes recordings with no specified performance date. These recordings are of the songs We All Come From the Mother ; Round and Round the Earth is Turning ; Women All Around the World.
