Blueberry

This sub-series contains the full-text resources and article citations about wild blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait) production and marketing in Eastern Canada and Maine, including bibliographies, research reports, newsletters, and abstracts. Topics covered include: horticulture, management, crop culture, varieties, improvement harvesting, storage, processing, products – utilization, soil management, soil fertility, fertilizers, insects - diseases - pests, entomology, plant insects, plant pathology, weeds. rodents and pests, crop buildings and equipment, field machinery, production economics, and marketing.

Water management

This sub-series contains reference material on water management. Includes material on flood analysis; silt deposition and erosion; and tidal data for Nova Scotia. Also contains 843 photographs and negatives.

Is this our Aggie? (Agricola exhibit)

This subseries contains materials that were used in an Agricola exhibit in 2017 called "Is this our Aggie?". Through archival materials found in our collection, and reproductions from various sources staff tried to follow the story of one of our early graduates Wilfred A. Costa to see if he was indeed the Wilfred Aldophus DeCosta whose timelines seemed to match.

Hockey championships team of the Truro and District Hockey League

This subseries contains a black and white mounted photograph of the 1945-1946 Nova Scotia Agricultural College hockey team and a photocopy of a newspaper article including the same photo and a caption with regard to a reunion of the Truro and District Hockey League that took place May 9, 1992 [?] at Keddy's. The caption underneath the photo states: "The Nova Scotia Agricultural College champions of the Truro and District Hockey League in the 1945-46 season, will be among teams represented when the league holds its reunion May 9 at Keddy's. This photo, courtesy of Don MacNeil of Truro shows players; front row, left, Bob Doyle, Dave Gillespie, Vernon Reid, Gus Kinsman, Angie Gillis, Moe Kennie ; bck row, left, Hermie Fielding, Dan McFadden, Bud Elderkin, Vic Holms, Hugh MacLeod, Ray Kennedy, Jack Gammon, Wayne Parker (manager). Facilities - buildings

This sub-series contains designs, blueprints, and correspondences of the construction and renovation of buildings on the Nova Scotia Agricultural College campus. These were published between 1912-1986.

Annual reports

The sub-series contains annual reports of the engineering division and grounds/gardens. These were published between 1913-1947 by staff members of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.

Correspondence

This sub-series contains inter-department correspondences and faculty speeches of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. These were published between 1911-1975.

Photographs

This sub-series contains 135 photographs and 3 paintings. Some of these photographs have attached newspaper clippings, pamphlets, postcard, or article. Graphic material depict sheep and lambs of various breeds, either showing in various farms, pastures, and exhibition events. Additionally, there are photographs of members of sheep related associations and businesses. These were taken between 1940-2002.

Film/Video

This sub series consists of 6 film reels, 5 VHS tapes, and 1 article regarding sheep. The motion picture material show exhibitions, documentaries, course material, and tours, between 1970-1996.

Canada. Department of Agriculture

This subseries contains 45 books, technical bulletins, annual reports, legislation, Canadex reports, and Agri-food papers published between 1878-1997. They are related to sheep and wool, breeding, diseases, and the sheep and wool industry published by the Canadian Department of Agriculture.

Course related

This sub-series contains hand written notes by Dr. Melville Cumming regarding the courses he taught at the Nova Scotia Agricultural Collage.

Raspberry

This sub-series contains 25 cm of textual material about wild blueberry, which includes production, marketing, management, harvesting, pathology, etc. These were published between 1950-1998.

Courses

This sub-series contains notebooks, examinations, and outlines of three courses that were offered at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College between 1937-1938.

Columbia project

This sub-series contains records that were created and used in the partnership project with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (Columbia) in the development of a Training Program in Sustainable Agriculture at UFPS both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program ran between 1997 and 2002. The Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (UFPS) has been asked to play a key role in “El Salto Social”, the social leap forward, in the Santander region of Colombia. New curricula will be introduced at UFPS, faculty will be upgraded and new extension and outreach programs established with the assistance of NSAC through this project. Other project partners are the Universidad de la Republica Uruguay (URU) of Uruguay and Saint Mary’s University (SMU). This is an Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) University Program for Cooperation in Development (UPCD) Tier 2 project led by NSAC. This sub-series contains textual records, which includes correspondences, brochures, flyers, sales records, and programs, relating to sheep fairs of the Sheep Producers' Association of Nova Scotia. These were published between 1973-1983.
