Materials focus on blueberries, strawberries, the strawberry industry, berry box making, berry shipping, general agriculture, the history of agriculture, dairy, creameries, direct marketing of blueberries and apples, exhibitions in Nova Scotia, the Maritimes, and Canada between 1924-1993.

Series contains papers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reproductions of articles, photographs, and signs created and collected by Gordon Kinsman during his research of berries, specifically strawberries, the strawberry industry, berry box making, and blueberries in Nova Scotia between 1891 and 1993.

Gordon Kinsman's records and photographs related to blueberry storage and shipping boxes and berries

File contains records related to berries, and the berry industry in Nova Scotia. There is correspondence from Gordon Kinsman to Joleen dated March 8, 1991. There are photographs of berry boxes, baskets and crates used in Nova Scotia, various reports and also correspondence related to berry crops, locations in Nova Scotia, their management and practices, and equipment used. Also included is the History of the blueberry industry in Nova Scotia, black and white photographs of the blueberry industry from the 1970s, shipping box blueprints, cards and tags used in blueberry boxes exported to the United States, Boston and New York from the 1930s-1980s, and black and white and colour photographs of people picking and enjoying blueberries.

Grassland field day - Port Williams - June 11, 1952 - The Kings County Farmers' Association [booklet]

Item is a booklet for the Grassland field day in Port Williams [Nova Scotia], held by The Kings County Farmers' Association on June 11, 1962. They worked with the provincial and federal governments, and machinery companies, to plan the field day. The program ran from 9 am to 5 pm; the day included meals. Demonstrations were provided at the R.F. Newcombe, Henry Cogswell, and Fred Cogswell farms. Special thanks is given to Agricultural representative G.G, Smelzter for promotion.
Page 8 contains an advertisement for the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
Pages 9-11 contains the article "Revolution in grass" by J.E. Shuh.

Hammer maker's bench & vice

Item is a hammer maker's bench & vice. It's a work bench with a third hand and leather seat; the clamp is shut by means of a tredle [sic treadle] made from a harrow blade. It was used at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College during the 1940's; have photograph corresponding to use at the N.S.A.C.

A.B. Dickie Hantsport, page 62 "Hantsport Fruit Basket Co. Ltd., page 64 an advertisement for Hantsport Fruit Basket Company Limited. The file also contains a reproduction of a Kentville advertisement "Apple Blossom festival" November, page 21, May, 1936, ad for Hantsport Fruit Basket company. Also included is a reproduction of an article "An excursion to opportunity" by H.M. Hatt, from "Port & Province", September 1936, page 12 (3 pages), regarding Hantsport Fruit and Basket Company and founder D.W. Murray.
