"Masks without masquerades" (African masks) exhibition

File consists of records related to the Mask Without Masquerades exhibition held at Dalhousie Art Gallery from February 6 to March 3, 1974. The exhibition planned in conjunction with Dr. Jacqueline Fry (Department of Anthropology of the University of Montreal) and the Dalhousie committee on African studies.

Records consist mainly of correspondence between Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and Jacqueline Fry (Department of Anthropology, University of Montreal) regarding selecting pieces, catalogues shipments, list of owners, and material descriptions. File also contains insurance documents, invitation lists, interdepartmental memos, packing instructions, letters and loan agreement forms, newspaper clippings, a slide (untitled), and incoming letters from the Royal Ontario Museum, the New Brunswick Museum, and the National Museum of Canada regarding transferring African masks.

File is an audio reel containing an episode of Coast to Coast, a radio program broadcast on CKDU radio 97.5. This episode includes interviews, conducted by Susannah Murphy, with local bands. The bands on this episode are Misery Goats performing "God Dogs" and "Whose Face"; Roland Blinn performing "Anorexic Sumo Wrestler" and "Immediate"; Sebastopol performing "Untrodden Ground" and "Love's not Like That"; False Security performing two unnamed songs; and Suspect Device performing "Be What you are" and "In the End." The promotional song for this episode is "God Dogs" by Misery Goats. The episode aired April 11, 1986 and was rebroadcasted April 18, 1986 and April 22, 1988.

Mata Nunez on socialist Cuba in a changing world order and the role of women in Cuba's workforce

File is an audio reel containing a recording of Mart Nunez at the main branch of the Halifax public library, as part of the World We Want lecture series. The recording is in two parts: part 1 (12 min., 49 sec.) is on socialist Cuba in a changing world order; part 2 (9 min., 19 sec.) is on the role of women in Cuba's workforce. Both parts were recorded October 15, 1992 and aired October 16, 1992 on The Evening Affair, CKDU's evening public affairs program. They were rebroadcast August 24, 1993 on The Evening Affair, and part 1 was rebroadcast November 10, 1995 and June 16, 1997 on The Evening Affair.

Mater coronata : an ode with lyrical interlude

File contains two copies of "Mater Coronata," a poem written by John Daniel Logan "commemorating the founder, preceptors, scholars, and heroes of the University of Dalhousie College." It was recited at the reunion of the alumni on August 21, 1924 and published by the Alumni Association. One of the copies is inscribed to "Captain John S. Roper, B.A., M.A., LL.B., M.C." with a poem from Logan.
