Accession contains: nine manuscripts for: Ova Aves; Icarus, Falling of the Birds; Animals of My Own Kind: New and Selected Poems; Everlasting Oasis; Island of the Blessed; Atlantic Canada Nature Guide; The Atlantic Coast: A Natural History; and The Nature of Shorebird: Nomads of the Wetlands. Thirteen photographs of birds eggs by Thaddus Holownia. There are scripts for: At The Fishhouses, a presentation of Elizabeth Bishop's poems, by Musique Royale; and A Ship’s Portrait for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. There is a copy of the play script for Black River Miracle, and an article Looking for John O'Brien. Includes correspondence, and research materials. Also includes two handwritten notebooks of poetry, representing the first drafts of some poems.

Accession contains records that largely document Harry Thurston's journalistic and non-fiction writing during the 1980s. Materials include editorial correspondence, research notes and secondary materials, annotated drafts and printer's proofs, and press releases and reviews for articles published in such magazines as Atlantic Insight, Audubon, Equinox, Harrowsmith and National Geographic. There are similar materials documenting Thurston's work on Tidal Life : A Natural History of the Bay of Fundy, as well as correspondence and administrative records documenting his work with the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia and various professional activities such as attending or organizing workshops and conferences.

Accession also contains a small volume of materials from the late 1970s related to Thurston's activities as a poet, including some correspondence and administrative records related to the poetry journal, Germination, as well as his involvement with the Dirge Poets and their Merry Men, a performance group of poets and musicians.

Item is a glass plate of a drawing of Rev. Thomas McCulloch, D.D. The drawing by Arthur Lismer itself is based on a painting of McCulloch by Daniel Munro. The drawing was commissioned and used for history books on Dalhousie University, like One hundred years of Dalhousie 1818-1918 (1920), and Daniel Cobb Harvey's, An introduction to the history of Dalhousie (1938).

Political and imperialism fragments : [manuscripts]

File contains two undated typed fragments, likely written in the 1940s, by Kenneth Leslie. The first fragment, a five-page selection, discusses religion in regards to imperialism, largely dealing with China and eastern Asia. The second fragment, one page long discusses politics and "one's objective obligation to history". Both fragments contain numerous annotated with corrections and alterations in ink.

Pomeroy, Marine

File contains a handwritten letter postmarked December 7, 1972, written by Marine Pomeroy of The Ladysmith Press, sent to Kenneth Leslie. The file addresses his concerns about Bill Cole republishing two of Leslie's poems in a forthcoming anthology, but reassures Leslie that Cole is "not alienating any rights", and that "we keep all rights" and that the poems are being used "one time only".
