Hosted by Carol Millett of CKDU's radio program Women's Time, the interview contains recordings of her songs "Emancipation Day" from Africville and "Oh Freedom" from Sistership. The interview was aired in November 1986 and was rebroadcast March 8, [1987] at 3 pm; March 18, [1987]at 6 pm; May 30, [1987] at 4 pm; and November 25, 1997 on The Evening Affair, CKDU's evening public affairs program.

Dawson, about the area around Jacob Street in downtown Halifax, bulldozed to make way for the Scotia Square project (the Jacob Street area was deemed a waterfront slum). The manuscript discusses the parallels between the demolition of Jacob Street and that of Africville.
