Dr. Rankin attended medical school at the University of Edinburgh during the late 19th century.
The materials were accessioned at the Dalhousie University Archives in 1984. Records were in the custody of Dr. R.P. Parkin, Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, in 1968.

Fonds consists of seven notebooks containing lecture notes from medical school at the University of Edinburgh.
