The Birom Davies

Item consists of a spiral bound notebook with an image of a motorcycle on the cover. The notebook contains handwritten notes on the Birom compiled by James Morrison on a text by J. G. Davies entitled The Bi Rom: A Study of a Nigerian Tribe.

File contains a copy of Hudson's study and a progress report and copy of the survey for Williams' study "Social and cultural factors affecting role-conflict and adjustment among American women: a pilot investigation." Also includes a copy of the Cornell-Aro study social data questionnaire and a computer dataset printout of Yoruba respondents.

The Indiana 101 simulator for psychiatric symptoms and social factors analysis

File contains documents relating to the attemped Indiana IBM 101 simulator project for analyzing psychiatric symptoms and social factors. Includes communications between Jane Murphy, Veronica Shaw, and Grafton Trout of the Indiana University International Development Centre. Also includes IBM simulator dataset printouts and notes and memoranda regarding data migration processes. The project was never used.

Series contains textual records, photographs and maps related to James Morrison's thesis. James Morrison's graduate thesis "Jos Plateau Societies: Internal Change and External Influences, 1800-1935", a thesis in the Department of History, submitted to the Faculty of Arts in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Ibadan. The records relating to James Morrison's thesis span 1973-1976.

Tin mine notes and complete papers

File consists of a range of oral history, mining research and final copies of papers written by James Morrison in the 1970's. The file contains two typed copies of the paper "Indigenous Competition and Labour in the tin fields of Nigeria 1906-1921" written by James Morrison, one copy is marked "master copy". Both copies of the paper include maps of the Jos Plateau in Nigeria. The file contains notes written on index cards from a text written by historian Charles Van Onselen on mine labour in South Africa.
