Biographical history

Sir John Wentworth, 1st Baronet (9 August 1737 – 8 April 1820) was the British colonial governor of New Hampshire at the time of the American Revolution. He was later also Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia (1792-1808). He is buried in the crypt of St. Paul's Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Matthew Richardson was a nineteenth century merchant based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is supposed to have been in partnership with Earl Dalhousie, who had considerable funds at command while in British America.

Item is a legal document between Sir John Wentworth and Matthew Richardson. The document involves land originally secured by William Dawes Quarrell for Maroons that the British sent to Nova Scotia from Trelawny Town, Jamaica in 1790s.

This document has a few stains, and the top half of the second fold is detached from the main part of the document and is also in 2 pieces. The writing is legible and intact.
