Radio Free World with Mike Hymers

Interview with Musa Zazyokwe on AIDS clinic

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Musa Zazayokwe, hosted by Brenda Barnes. Zazayokwe was involved in the founding of the first community-based health project in South Africa for AIDS in 1988 and was in Halifax on a two-month exchange with the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition at the time of this interview. The interview is in two parts (16 min., 42 sec. and 11 min., 51 sec.) and was recorded October 8, 1991. Both parts aired October 11, 1991 on Title Waves, a CKDU radio program. Part 1 was rebroadcast October 18, 1991 on The Evening Affair, CKDU's evening public affairs program, and both parts were rebroadcast February 20, 1992 on Title Waves.

Batik tapestries by Louis Steyn

File consists of records related to the exhibition 'South African Batik Tapestries by Louis Steyn' presented by The Art Gallery, Memorial University, Newfoundland and organized in collaboration with Gallery 101, Johannesburg. The exhibition was presented at the Dalhousie Art Gallery in October 1967 and again in April 1970.

Records consist of correspondence between Evelyn Holmes (Acting Curator, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and Peter Bell (Curator, Memorial University), and purchasers of works in the exhibition, an excerpt of the Peter Wenger exhibition catalogue titled 'Some Notes on Batik', a photograph of an installed tapestry and gallery visitor, two draft catalogues, a copy of South African Scope containing a feature on Steyn's work on p. 6-7.
