Thelma Furlong and Burpee Meisner at the DDD and dial exchange in Port Dufferin Nova Scotia

Photograph of Thelma Furlong who had been an agent for the exchange since 1949 was presented with an inscribed silver tray from Burpee Meisner district traffict supervisor in appreciation of her years of dedication. Official DDD and dial exchange ceremonies were held in Port Dufferin Masonic Hall on July 19.

Retirement of A. Gordon Archibald

Electronic switching centre

Ilsley High School in Spryfield had the chance to see first hand Maritime Telephone and Telegraph's newest "electronic switching" centre which cut into service on February 28th. Approximately 250 grades 11 and 12 students were taken on a tour March 2-3. Tod Slaney on the extreme left in the foreground of B.I.S. one of the five tour guides point out some of the special features.
