Later draft manuscript of Pukka Sahib

Item consists of a later draft manuscript of the humorous skit "Pukka Sahib" written by David Murray sometime in the 1940s. This version of the script corrects earlier spelling mistakes, and slightly alters stage directions and text of the skit from previous versions. Also includes a carbon-copied version of the same script.

Item consists of an early draft manuscript of the humorous skit "Pukka Sahib", written by David Murray sometime in the 1940s. This version of the manuscript contains spelling mistakes with corrections in pencil, as well as some abbreviations contained in the stage directions and character names.

Fonds contains correspondence, production records, scripts, flyers, posters, programs, promotional materials, press reviews, financial records, organizational management, documents regarding the theatre building and property, workshop programming, as well as touring production records. There is extensive correspondence regarding script acquisition and production; some correspondents included Canadian and Haligonian playwrights. Many scripts contain annotations by directors and actors. Set drawings, lighting cues, props lists and theatre renovation plans are also part of this fonds.

File contains four manuscripts, notes and a chronology outlining the evolution of the play script, which was originally written for radio as "The One Hundred Year Old Man." The stage version was never produced, although it was used in workshops with high school students.

File contains a joint copyright agreement between Christopher Heide and Al MacDonald; publishing contract and correspondence with Borealis Press; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1998 Tantramar Theatre Festival production; notes, reviews and advertisements for the 1994 Lunenburg Dinner Theatre Company production; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1980 Stages production; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1984 Kam Theatre (Thunder Bay) production; and an annotated copy of the published script. There is also correspondence between Chris Heide and Rosemary Gilbert about the possibility of converting Pogie and No More Gasoline into television scripts. File also contains a chronology of events documenting the genesis and evolution of the script development and production.
