File contains 7 photographs of C.A. Douglas' retirement. They are all stamped "Photo by Pridham Studio, Truro, N.S.". Charles Douglas was Deputy Minister of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing. Douglas also served as Assistant Agricultural Representative in Pictou, Agricultural Representative in Hants County, Assistant Director and, later, Director of Extension, and as Director of Livestock. File contains two scrapbooks, or memory books, created to reflect the activities of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association from 1952 to 1984. The auxiliary dismantled in the mid 1980s; former member Joan MacAulay created these scrap books in May of 2014 to acknowledge the work and friendship auxiliary members had.

Black, Director of Handicrafts, NS Department of Trade and Industry, regarding the Nova Scotia Tartan in commissioned mural of the Four seasons of wool. The period covered is 1952-1954.

Strawberry industry - N.S., Gordon Kinsman papers

File contains Gordon Kinsman's papers and records related to the strawberry industry in Nova Scotia from 1891-1958. Records include strawberry history newspaper mentions from the Kentville Star in 1891, and the Truro Daily News from 1895-1901. Included is information on strawberry production in Nova Scotia, the distribution of strawberries around the province and export to Boston and Montreal, Masstown Strawberry Growers Co-operative Ltd. (1946-1958) production and sales. A reproduction of the article "Strawberry boxes : Messers, Lewis & Sons" from the Truro Daily News, v.4:no.157, Saturday, July 7, 1894. A reproduction of the article "Strawberries" from The Busy East, 1917 about shipping strawberries in 1868. It also has information on blueberries shipped to Boston from Nova Scotia in the 1870s. A reproduction of a photograph "Picking strawberries in Yarmouth", from The Down East (1910-1917). Includes picture of picking strawberries in the Valley, with several handwritten notations about the crates and boxes in the photograph - NOTE - Dalhousie University Archives, Reference files: Dalhousie history, Price, H.B.A. Valley Farm in NS Date 1928-29; reprinted from the Dalhousie Review, Vol VIII, 1928-29, page 165, Box/File: MS-1-REF 117.19. Memorandum from an Agricultural representative, Truro, N.S., March 9, 1962, re: strawberry containers in 1964 were to be shipped in single layers to prevent bruising and damage to the berries, noted that 1960/61 growers ran short on boxes and crates, it is recommended to order more ahead of time next year. There is correspondence from an Agricultural representative, Dale Ells, Markets Representative, N.S. Department of Agriculture, Truro, N.S., September 5, 1963, re: Berries to Boston; 12 qy vs 32 qt for shipping: Boston finds 12 qt of higher quality, less damage to berries, more marketable. There's additional correspondence from Gordon Kinsman to Mrs. Thelma Pepper, May 29, 1986, re: Mrs. Pepper prepared an exhibit of photographs for the MacDonald Historical Museum. Beaver Brook strawberry sales, typed, "Digby" in ink, 1968, in two pieces, the old tape fell off. There was also a photocopy of a business card for Herrett's woodworking, specializing in boxwood and custom sawing - Springhill, N.S. and a sample of cellophane that was used on top of quart boxes between the 1920-1970s.

Gordon Kinsman's records and photographs related to blueberry storage and shipping boxes and berries

File contains records related to berries, and the berry industry in Nova Scotia. There is correspondence from Gordon Kinsman to Joleen dated March 8, 1991. There are photographs of berry boxes, baskets and crates used in Nova Scotia, various reports and also correspondence related to berry crops, locations in Nova Scotia, their management and practices, and equipment used. Also included is the History of the blueberry industry in Nova Scotia, black and white photographs of the blueberry industry from the 1970s, shipping box blueprints, cards and tags used in blueberry boxes exported to the United States, Boston and New York from the 1930s-1980s, and black and white and colour photographs of people picking and enjoying blueberries.

Strawberry signs

File contains two strawberry signs. One says: "Beaver Brook Farms - Strawberries - Three Suns - Digby, Nova Scotia (12 pint boxes)". The other is a strawberry picking sign, it shows the "right and wrong way to pick berries". Neither are dated.

File contains Gordon Kinsman's papers and records related to the Hantsport Basket Company. They include a reproduction of from "The Busy East", June 1916: page 61, "Hantsport, on the Avon" by Rev. A.B. Dickie Hantsport, page 62 "Hantsport Fruit Basket Co. Ltd., page 64 an advertisement for Hantsport Fruit Basket Company Limited. The file also contains a reproduction of a Kentville advertisement "Apple Blossom festival" November, page 21, May, 1936, ad for Hantsport Fruit Basket company. Also included is a reproduction of an article "An excursion to opportunity" by H.M. Hatt, from "Port & Province", September 1936, page 12 (3 pages), regarding Hantsport Fruit and Basket Company and founder D.W. Murray.
