A caption is printed on the photograph which reads: "Charles Fenerty: Inventor of the process of producing paper from spruce wood pulp, he made his method public in 1844. Born in Upper Sackville, N. S., January 1821, he died at Lower Sackville, N. S., June 1892 at the age of 71."
