Each piece bears an inscription to Ellen Ballon, Goldmark's student in 1909. The pieces were published by the Oliver Ditson Company in Boston in 1908.

There are also five letters written by the following composers: Jacques Offenbach (1879), Gustav Mahler (1899), Edvard Grieg (1902), Maurice Ravel (1921), and Ignacy Paderewski (n.d., 1860-1941).
File contains a book of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's piano compositions from his notebook, dated 1764, published with critical remarks for the first time by Dr. Georg Schünermann. The book is inscribed to Ellen Ballon from her "dear friend," Franz Darvas.
File contains two songs arranged by Kathleen Heron-Maxwell, "Dear Old London" (1926) and "Keep on Hopin'" (1915). Both scores are inscribed by the arranger.
File contains a program for a centennial concert celebration at McGill University, featuring the McGill Symphony Orchestra and John McKay on piano. Ellen Ballon is cited in the introduction as one of McGill's notable graduates.
